Former Ambassador to Iceland Jeff Gunter, a self-claimed “America First” candidate, has a history of funding anti-Trump Republicans such as Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney as he seeks to become the Republican nominee for Senate in Nevada.

We've got a lot of choices, not sure if any decent ones this year, but I've scratched this guy off.
Lets take a deep breathe....
1- was Lez Cheney anti-Trump in 2016??
2- Mittens ran for President in 2012. I even donated $$$ to get obama the hell out
3- Boner was long gone by the time DJT took office.
Sorry, Never Trump in 2015 was very likely a Jeb supporter.
To add your name to the growing Nevada ping list, FReepmail me...
“We’ve got a lot of choices, not sure if any decent ones this year, but I’ve scratched this guy off.”
So has everyone else, even before these revelations. Gunter polls at about 1% and even though he’s grifted a certain amount of funding from clueless (or complicit) idiots, he’s managed to spend just about all of it.
The GOP nominee will almost certainly be Sam Brown, though I’d prefer Jim Marchant. It’s not as if any Republican has much of a chance against Jacky Rosen, who has all the money in the world to campaign with and no primary election to worry about, but Democrat heads would explode if Marchant somehow got into the Senate.
The Democrats know math.
I'm looking at the overall picture. And, yes, I gave money to Romney, McCain, Ryan, Cruz, Trump, and most recently DeSantis. But NEVER to Boner, McConnell, Collins, or Cheney.
2024 has a long list of 10 Republicans:
Don't know anything about the others yet.
This guy screams rino. Just the kind of R that slithers in when the base vote splits. Like McTraitor, Flake, Graham, Murkowski…..
What was he supposed to be, a soothsayer? Boehner was long out of office before Trump ever took office or even ran. Liz Cheney in *2016*? Donated to Romney in *2012*, who met with Trump and was endorsed by Trump at that time? Donated to prior campaigns of other Republicans?
If this guy is secretly “anti-Trump” it isn’t for the reasons given in this article which is just a hit piece. Is Breitbart trying to emulate the MSM with something like this?
Okay, setting aside his donation history, why should I or others consider Gunter?
That seat is a key placeholder, and while there has been legislation that did not get through because she was not on board, she's been an essential and critical vote in getting some legislation through and nominations that would have never gotten through if a Democrat held the seat...and in 2020 that seat was one of the most vulnerable. The legislative filibuster may be gone with Democrats ramming through even more garbage at high speed if that seat had been lost in 2020 - Manchin and Sinema would not have been able to block the change if only 1 more seat was on the side of elimination as Harris would have provided the tie breaking vote.
😂
As I and others repeat, stop the insults and name calling. Maybe try growing the base instead of circling the wagons for a change.
I have no reason for you support him or oppose him - has nothing to do with the point. Doesn't look like he's even in contention anyway: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/senate/2024/nevada/republican-primary/
That is plausible, but he would have donated to someone.
Heck, I gave to Cruz when he announced, then later to Trump when it became apparent he was more adept on the debate stage, and had shown he actually understood the problems and generally how to approach them.
Of course, Paul Ryan and Mitch made sure their own stated efforts, protecting the border, reducing government spending, and rolling back 0bamacare and other Democrat programs, were never done, because Trump saying he wanted those, too, meant they would now have no more excuses to not do what they had always said they wanted (and had gotten elected for), exposing them as long-term liars.
RINOs hate him to this day.
Oh, no, no, no - anything less than clapping like a trained seal for anything and everything Trump says or does makes you a NeverTrumper. Didn’t you know that?
If a history of donations cannot describe a Never Trumper — then there is something more powerful that can inform us about him.
If he’s had any sort of political career, he is disqualified. Period.
This is not about Trump. It is about the Swamp. The donations suggest long term political class focus and that makes him Swamp. Pick one of the others.
And again, I will stand and defend Susan Collins. She represents her voters. Unlike Romney and Murkowski. She represents her state. If you don’t like what her state wants, then buy a ticket and go persuade them. If you do not do that, or go there and fail to persuade, then the failure is yours, not Susan Collins’.
Who, if any exist, are the alternatives?
Exactly. And JD Vance was not for Trump until he saw the light.
