I have never owned a Nissan
And it looks like I never will.
Sorry to say it, but we live in a fascist system - where private industry works with government and its cronies to promote collectivist political schemes
16 new EVs. Awesome! But I’m disappointed that Nissan did not reveal any new cars powered by magic unicorns. Maybe that will come later.
It seems they think Biden will be re-elected, i.e. his plan to mandate that all vehicles be EVs by 2030.
How do you Rev up an EV ? LOL
I have no clue what the EV market is like in the rest of the world. I hope they're not depending on selling many EV's here in the U.S. That market seems to be petering out.
In 2018 Nissan executives had their boss Carlos Ghosn arrested on fabricated charges to avoid a merger with Renault. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-58070929 He was able to flee Japan for Lebanon, where he now resides as a refugee. I would not even consider buying any Nissan product.
Women especially like Nissan. They make an attractive looking car but I do not trust the longevity or service record.
The following is not an environmental statement it is an economic prediction.
Something is changing in the electric vehicle market and that is the emergence of solid state batteries.
They are about to alleviate many of the problems associated with current EVs.
I’m just guessing that the next line of Tesla’s will end up utilizing solid State batteries and that will be a game changer.
That’s combined with the unfortunate pressure of governments forcing people and companies to purchase electric vehicles.
If you invest in stocks I suggest taking a look at the companies that are getting ready to mass produce solid state batteries.
“ Nissan laid out plans for 30 new vehicles by 2026 — 16 of which will be electric as demand for the battery-powered vehicles has revved up in recent months.”
******************************************************
Revved up in recent months? Coulda fooled me. Actually I think in recent months I’m seeing a WTF are we doing awakening. Just sayin’.
I seldom hear anyone say that we don’t have the electrical infrastructure to handle recharging 100 million electric cars every day.
Nobody ever talks about that we are many years away from having such an electrical grid.
At some point ,there is going to be a collision between these plans for more and more electric cars, and the realities that we don’t have the electrical generation capacity for all these vehicles.
Nissa just has so many problems already, why would they add this insanity to the mix?
Their CVT Transmissions are junk... they have the longest lot times of any major manufacturer in the US... and they can’t move product, so much so they are desperately trying to get Dealers to buy their cars rather than be forced to put them into fleet.
Why, why, why, they would think heavy investment into Electric is going to be a good move is just beyond belief.
I really, really don’t understand how these people become CEO’s of these large organizations and are just so damned stupid.
GM, FORD, JEEP how any of these CEO’s have not been summarily fired for their incompetence is just beyond understanding.
So their sales will decline at least 50%?
Government the enemy of the consumer will make you buy them or else
“Nissan announces a slate of new models by 2026, over half of which will be EVs”
Over half of which will not sell.
I would never buy a Nissan after having 2 Mickey Mouse transmissions fail
I think this is 100 percent, or at least 90 percent a corporate strategic mistake.
having to rely on the electric company (at least in several key market areas where the electricity is unreliable and extremely expensive) is not attractive, sorry
parking lots full of rusting EV’s, while all the Gas vehicles fly off the lot
I’ve had Nissans for awhile, several of them. I looked into the new Rogue...it has a F’n 3 cylinder with a turbo. Screw that noise. If I change, I’ll move down to a hybrid, but full electric? Nope.
Followed by “massive layoffs at Nissan reflect drastic downturn in profits.”
Hydrogen will replace EVs and the fascist governments will realize too late to stop it. Just like they tried to force fluorescent bulbs down our throats while LED was about to steamroll them.
