VIENNA (ICIS)–A Ukrainian gas storage facility was struck on Sunday morning as Russia unleashed a barrage of drones and missile on civilian infrastructure, including in the western region close to the Polish border.

Roman Maliutin, acting CEO of Ukrainian gas storage operator UTG, described the situation as “non-critical” and said engineers were working to repair the ground infrastructure which was hit during the strikes.

Service nominations, including storage and capacity bookings, were being fulfilled as planned according to a statement by mother company Naftogaz.

“Maliutin confirmed there are 1.5 bilion cubic meters of gas in customs warehouse of which 0.72 million cubic meters (mcm) belong to non-resident and 0.78 mcm to resident companies.” Half of the gas belongs to NATO partners. Bad news for the Germans. If the Russians aren’t satisfied with the level of destruction, it’s no problem to come calling again.

It’s floating around 3.60 here in northern Illinois. About 6 weeks ago it was 2.89. Natural gas is 43 cents, up from 34 cents last month.

.72B cubic meters of LNG belonging to Germany and the other continental NATO partners a hangnail you say. If you say so, I guess.

Apparently the trade industry source of the original article does not use an editor or something went wrong in translation. We are talking Billion Cubic Meters of LNG here.

From S and P Global Commodity Insights

“Most of Ukraine’s vast 31 Bcm of gas storage capacity is located in the west of the country, FAR FROM the ongoing hostilities.”

Oh, Really?

Only half of that gas is Ukraine’s, the rest belongs to the NATO Euroweenies. Those countries use Ukraine’s storage facilities.

Report says that ability to transfer (i.e. ship) the gas is limited (not stopped). No gas was lost to the attack.

At a guess repairs will take a week to a month. Meanwhile gas can be shipped at a reduced volume/day.

BTW has any responsible news site reported this?

My wife and I are in our 80’s and we don’t drive our car much.

I fill the tank about once a month and know that the per gallon price has increased about every month in the last year+.

We know how those increases each week/monthly have a negative impact on so many American families.

So.....you can’t show anything but a commodities report from an obscure site in Austria. Sites like that are too often exploited to drive market prices, so credibility is low. If Reuters reported it, why didn’t you post that instead? Too lazy?

Yes, India and Russian bloggers. One misille flew at 400 meters fir 39 seconds nearly two km into Poland at 800km an hour. Scrambled 2 US & 2 Polish fighters. They took out an F16 airfield and a energy station very close to this huge facility.

Something big coming in Karkoff region, all electric, rail and internet down for past two days.
