That's a false choice, and you should know it.

According to all the polls, US voters and Pres. Trump will deal with the Biden administration on November 5, and then everything Republicans can set right, we will.

That may or may not include Ukraine, since Pres. Trump believes he can end the conflict in day, but I doubt if reality will necessarily yield so easily to even the world's greatest negotiator.

That's because Ukrainians have said they will not stop fighting for their 2013 internationally recognized borders, and Vlad the Invader cannot stop fighting because... well... that's what Russians do.

So, we'll see soon enough, but in the meantime, Ukrainians believe they have to keep fighting or they will lose both their country and their lives.
The issue of Western aid to Ukraine is a matter of moral, ethical, legal and national security considerations, all of which support aid and none of which have anything necessarily to do with US domestic politics.

Which part of this do you not understand?

And you know this how? You know that RATS won't steal the election again? You know that RATS won't steal the House, which is what they're working at right now? They already have the Senate, with plenty of Rinos that do their dirty work for them. You know that RATS won't go to any level, even murdering the man, just so he doesn't set foot in The White House again. Are you planning for the worst scenario? You should, because in this country, at this time, nothing is certain. Nothing is written in stone. Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

Of course.

Best case scenario is that Trump will win in a landslide, carrying with him both the House and the Senate with large enough majorities to actually govern for the following two years, and during that time they will set right the worst of problems that so offend conservatives these days.

In that best case scenario, we cannot expect Democrats to take defeat lying down.
They will rebel, revolt, insurrect, commit domestic violence and treason the entire time of Trump's presidency, especially as Trump seriously "returns to sender" the illegal immigrants whose census counts, and illegal votes Democrats are desperately hoping for.

No, I don't expect a worst-case scenario because I don't expect Trump to allow the Democrats' vote-stealing machine to work unhindered, yet again.
However, based on current polls, Trump would only have to lose PA, Michigan and Nevada... ;-(

If Democrats win majorities in the House or Senate, we will not like the results.
Bottom line is there will be negative consequences either way, but better overall if Trump and Republicans win everything.

This is my best-case scenario, based on today's polls.
Trump 311 electoral college votes.
Anything better than this means Democrats collapsed (as in 1984), which seems unlikely.
Anything worse means the Democrats' vote stealing machine operating in turbocharged overdrive, imho.

I’ll be 77 in August, and there’s always the possibility that I won’t be around in four years, or even this November to vote for Trump, so at my age, and having seen so much RAT shenanigans over the years, and Republicans not doing a damn thing about it, I hope you understand why I do not have any faith in the system any more. When Al Gore tried to steal the election in 2000, suing for recounts in cherry-picked districts, and Bush countering his suit to the Supreme Court, it took us a month to know who our next President was. In the aftermath, Republicans acted as if nothing untoward had happened. They sat on their hands and never once in 20 years, even during the sessions they had majorities in both Houses, brought up election reform in order to prevent that from happening again. I pray things will be different this time around, but I’m a realist, so have my own doubts.

The Islamic State – Khorasan Province (IS-KP) has claimed responsibility for several high-profile attacks in recent years.
Some of the most notable include:

July 2016: Twin bombings that killed 97 Shia Hazara protestors in downtown Kabul.
July 2018: Twin suicide bombings at election rallies in Pakistan that killed at least 131 people.
August 2021: A suicide bombing at Kabul’s international airport that killed 13 American military personnel and at least 169 Afghans during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
September 2022: A suicide bombing at the Russian embassy in Kabul, killed 10, wounded ~20.
July 2023: A suicide bombing in Khar, Pakistan, at a JUI (F) rally that killed 63 people.
March 2024: Moscow's Crocus City Hall auditorium attack which killed 140, injured another ~360.

Prior to the Crocus City Hall attack, the US embassy in Russia issued multiple security warnings to Russia, the first more than a month before the actual attack.
US National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson stated that the US government had shared information with Russian authorities as part of its ‘duty to warn’ policy.

Vladimir Putin's response was to dismiss the US alerts as “provocative” and likened the actions to:

"outright blackmail and the intention to intimidate and destabilize our society"

The Islamic State – Khorasan Province (IS-KP) said it's attack on Moscow's Crocus City Hall was in response to Russia's military actions in Syria.
And, this is not their first attack -- in September 2022, IS-KP suicide-bombed Russia's embassy in Kabul, killing about 10, wounding another 20 or so.
Russia's response in 2022, beyond public condemnations of IS-KP, is not known.

So, there's bad blood between Russia and IS-KP and no reason to think that the Crocus City Hall attack was anything more than Russia bringing karma down on itself.

Finally, in Afghanistan the Taliban does not admit that IS-KP controls any significant portions of Afghanistan territory.
But regionally, some Tajiks are known to be inspired by the modern vision of a Greater Khorasan:

Then we are the same age.

Since I was a young man in the 1970s, standing guard in West Germany to prevent the Old Soviets from doing there what they are now doing in Ukraine, since then I've always believed that my job is to help "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States", to the best of my ability, and to my last breath, regardless of how much faith anybody else may or may not have in it.

Thank you for your service. My brother was a Vietnam Veteran, U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division, stationed in Cu Chi from April 1966-1967. He never made it past 51. Died of a massive heart attack, and left a widow and four kids, three of whom they had adopted. I'm the last one in my family left, and the only one to make it past 74.

I also had two uncles who served overseas in the U.S. Army in WWII. One was born in Holland, and came over with my father, another brother, and their parents in 1913. The other on my mother's side was born in Canada. He was my mother''s only brother. When he enlisted, he wasn't a citizen, having come here with his mother when a young boy. The Army, in order to establish an entry date, drove him to Niagara Falls, and made his walk across the bridge and back, and made that his official entry date. On his way to California to ship overseas, he was naturalized while stationed at Fort Sam Houston in Texas. He died at the age of 48 in 1964. The story of him having to walk across the bridge had always been just that, a story, until I found the documents on Ancestry.com to prove it.

My great-uncle in Canada, served with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in WWI, and was killed in France two months before the Armistice. He was the only son in that family as well. He's buried in a British Military Cemetery in France. My mother's family was strange in that a branch had come from England and settled in New York, specifically Dutchess County. My 5th Great-Grandfather was a Lieutenant in the 2nd Regiment of the Dutchess County Militia, and is listed in the DAR Patriot Index. It was one of his son's who left the State, went to Canada, and married the daughter of a Loyalist family from Dutchess County. His father wrote him out of the Will.

Thanks for relating your fascinating family history of US military service, I'm sorry to learn so many didn't make it past middle age.

My family's history of service goes back to the Revolutionary War and the Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, militia responsible, as I understand it, for protecting supply lines to Washington's troops at Valley Forge.
Ancestors or family served in the Civil War, both World Wars and every major US conflict since.
Some were wounded but all survived and prospered after their war, and until my dad's generation they were all farmers, some were school teachers.

When I was a boy, we were taught the "lessons of WWII", which included that weakness provokes aggression from evil dictators.
That's what I see in Ukraine, while others seemingly see something quite different.

Of course, that's what Vlad the Invader is saying, he naturally wants to blame Ukraine so he can use the incident to justify whatever additional steps he wanted to take anyway.

If Vlad blames Tajiks or Isis-KP, then he's got a second front to fight and naturally he doesn't want that.

The problem with blaming Ukraine (or the US) is that so far there's no evidence for it whatever.
Yes, Vlad claims the terrorists were trying to escape to Ukraine, but they were actually captured on the road to Belarus, so if that's all he's got, it's less than convincing.

It's not our fault, or our problem if Ukraine is weak, or has corrupt leaders, or has made bad political decisions, etc. We have weakness, corruption, and poor judgement in our government here too. It isn't our job to police the world when a bully pushes up against another nation that can't defend itself. And when it comes to Ukraine, that's Europe's problem, not ours. They need to step up for once, and not depend on this country to take the lead. We've done that far too often in the past, and it must stop. America needs to worry about America first for once. Even George Washington warned this country not to get into entangling alliances with foreign countries. He was right then, and he's still right today.
