Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) on Thursday again pressed Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to take up the Senate-passed national security spending package, which includes $60 billion for Ukraine, despite Johnson’s message to GOP senators this week that he’s moving in a different direction.
McConnell didn’t express much interest in waiting weeks or maybe months for the House to come up with an alternative proposal to help Ukraine.
“The chilling reality here is abundantly clear. Withholding critical weapons has not helped manage [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s escalation. It has only emboldened him,” McConnell warned on the Senate floor.
That alternative proposal seemingly would be centered on setting up a loan or lend-lease program or seizing an estimated $300 billion in Russian assets to pay for arming Ukrainian forces.

Our question to the Turtle:
Hey, you’re still here?
Define the job?
End game? Goal?
Another 20 year war?
Mitch is a stroke waiting to happen...He’s a PRIME example for TERM LIMITS..We TERM LIMIT the POTUS...about time we TERM LIMIT THEM ALL!!!
I wish the job would be finished on McButthole. Go away and die, you RINO b*****d.
JUST SAY NO or compromise by ZEROING out the Dept of Education budget.
We need war crimes trials for all of them.
What part of the people don’t want to keep supporting Ukraine, dropping funds in Ukrains toilet where they disappear - into a war they’re loosing - Does McConnell not understand?
FINISH THE JOB....ELIMINATE ALL FOREIGN AID and INVESTIGATE those who profit from it.
Yeah, exactly what is ‘the job’?
What job? Not America’s job.
The Ukraine is not our ally. Heck, it’s not even a friend, and it is the only European nation which is more corrupt that even Russia.
The conditions are very clear.
There must be border control. Not bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform. BORDER CONTROL.
The obstacle to Ukraine funding is on the Democrat side. Not the House.
Mitch made millions selling out his and his wife’s offices to China
He should “finish the job” by suck-starting a Glock and joining his sister-in-law.
Our tax money and debt is going to other nations not to make America better, but always to make foreign and US officials and politicians like McConnell and Biden richer. Our money to Ukraine will never help the USA or even Ukrainians. But it will extend the war.
Since the people are divided, their message is pretty murky, too.
Also wants yuuuuuge war to leave Trump.
It would keep the swamp entrenched even more so than it already is.
I really, really want all these expenditures to be pitched in terms of cost amortized over individual taxpayers in the US.
i.e.: Bitch Mitch wants $30 Billion for Ukraine. There’s approximately 165 million individual taxpayers in the US, so instead this should be reported as “Mitch McConnel wants $182 per person from YOU without your consent to send to Ukraine”
Would definitely make politics more interesting. And, I suspect, lower re-election rates.
There is absolutely NO way Ukraine can beat Russia, without NATO actually putting troops into the battle, period.
Laundering more future tax dollars to the military industrial complex just to keep this meat grinder going is pointless.
Should have been pursuing peace within weeks if not months of the conflict beginning. Ukraine stop and push back the advance, to show Russia it wouldn’t be a cakewalk, and once that had been achieved priority should have been getting folks to the negotiating table.
But that would require a SANE and COMPETENT leader in Ukraine which it does not have, and sanity among Nato nations as well, who pushed for this conflict, stupidly.
The estimated cost to have ARMED GUARDS AT EVERY US SCHOOL is $13 Billion annually.....
Make no mistake where these “leaders” priorities are.
