When then-President Donald Trump finished his speech on Jan. 6, 2021, he wanted to go to the U.S. Capitol.
But a Secret Service agent blocked him from going, according to a newly disclosed account.
President Trump and Robert Engel, his lead Secret Service agent, entered the SUV around 1:10 p.m. after President Trump concluded his speech, which was delivered on the Ellipse.

George W Bush. On 9/11, he wanted to go back to Washington immediately. He was not allowed to go back. Instead, they went to Barksdale Air Force Base.
“Forbidden” is a strong word. I don’t think Trump was “forbidden”, he was persuaded to stick to the plan to go back to the White House.
The SS may have had info on a planned assassination of President Trump by the 3-letter agencies at the capitol.
Hitler would have summarily executed the insubordinate secret service.
I thought this was disputed by the Secret Service just yesterday or Monday?
It was also a SS guy who completely debunked the Trump attacking the SS driver narrative.
SS is not the problem.
But...but....the steering wheel....Trump wanted to grab the steering wheel from the backseat & drive to the Capitol.(sarcasm)
The January 6 clown committee were a bunch of hacks.
Sounds like the Secret Service was either ‘in on it’ with the FBI and CIA goons OR they were being overly careful. It’s more likely they were being overly careful.
So the SS knew it was unwise for him to go there...and advised him of that...and he said “oh,OK”.
Realistically, where on Capitol Hill might he have gone, given the multiple legitimately planned protests?
Apparently, the word was out that Proud Boys and other groups were coming to cause a ruckus.
The Secret Service is charged with the responsibility to protect the President’s life. They did right in telling him him not to go. And I’ll betcha Trump was cooperative with them.
I think the whole Hutchinson “grabbing steering wheel” story is fabricaton.
“So, essentially:
Trump: “I’d like to go to the capitol.”
Secret Service: “Sir, we’re not prepared for that, you should go to the White House instead.”
Trump: “Okay.””
Exactly! Trump asked if it was possible. SS said “No” and that was it.

I’d guess so as well. 1:10 pm ? Wasn’t it at least three hours later before the so-called capitol riots started?
The secret service most definitely can tell the president to pound sand on that type of request which they did.

Lots of 'not's' in there. This report is very nebulous.

On any given day I could see where that might be the case, on this particular day when the entire day is literally scripted mile by mile, Bridge underpass by Bridge underpass Railroad crossing points by railroad crossing points I mean this is a detailed day... the script is followed to the letter, published, and disseminated throughout the different government agencies with security in place.
This particular scenario was not included on that sheet of music therefore it wasn’t going to happen.
It’s as simple as that.
