Apparently, the word 'safe' doesn't mean the same to The Hill as it does to most people.
Alpharetta, GA? No way. Santa Clara, CA. Hell no way.

Wife inherited house and land in rural LA. Still deciding on taking the plunge.
I like where I live in Henderson County TX, but it is changing.

Tokyo is nice, free of crime, prosperous, intelligent, full of job opportunities, can be cheap to live in if desired, has great food and culture and beautiful women, and only foreigners that are qualified to be here are allowed to stay.

Aside from avoiding dem-run hellhole cities in general, there’s one factor that correlates directly with safety, or the lack thereof. I’m currently looking for a nice place to retire to that has as low a level of that factor as possible.

They could try telling the truth: “Our cities are both safe and affordable. But the affordable parts are not safe and the safe parts are not affordable.” :)

There are safe towns and suburbs.
Big cities are not safe. Austin, TX is a great example of that. A blue city in a red state.
