NEW YORK — Gov. Kathy Hochul has pulled back the big guns in her subway safety surge, ordering the National Guard not to carry military-grade assault rifles when they check riders’ bags for weapons.
Many of the 750 troops Hochul deployed Wednesday to check riders’ backpacks hauling laptops or school books or bags carrying groceries carried M4 carbines, military assault rifles whose 5.56mm rounds can defeat some body armor.

What does it say about the National Guard, however, that those professional, well-trained men and women are allowing themselves to be used as a goon squad by Deep State.
It says they follow orders.
Not exactly an effective defense, I grant you, Nuremberg proved that.... and to my mind, inspecting bags without a search warrant is somewhat iffy, but the same can be said about similar searches during air travel. I suppose it passes Constitutional muster because entering an airliner (or a subway train) is a choice. I'm far more troubled by warrantless Stop and Frisk. I'd hope that practice makes the SCOTUS and is declared unconstitutional.
