Sen. Katie Britt's, R-Ala., official Republican response to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address Thursday night turned heads — but not for any of the right reasons.
The freshman senator's high-profile rebuttal was stern in its focus on immigration and the state of the economy — two key sticking points against the president — but had a bizarre delivery, according to The Daily Beast. Its dramatic cadence and beige-toned kitchen backdrop left political operatives and observers unsure of what to make of it.
Britt's performance was so unnerving that some Republicans watched "with a grimace," the Daily Beast reports. A GOP strategist even told the outlet that gossip about Britt's delivery quickly circulated among operatives connected to Donald Trump, which could have an impact on her consideration as his running mate.

Salon, Yahoo. and Daily Beast do Biden’s footwork.
“I watched it, parts of it”
Try watching all of it.
Sounds like she practiced in front the mirror a bunch of times and no one was there to tone down the cheesy acting melodrama vibe
“the first version of the movie was better than the remake.”
With Paula Prentiss? That was good. Anyhow, the first version of any movie are almost always better than remakes.
“Just not ready for prime time.”
Exactly what I was thinking.
Our response to SOTU have sucked for a few years now. Sarah’s was bad. Jindel ... Ugh.
Nailed it!

Here's what I posted ... that you posted your snarky reply to ...
>> I watched it/parts of it, a few times. <<
Repeat ... just to clarify, for you ... I watched it .... parts of it, I watched (again) a few times. I watched the entire, agonizing speech.
You originally posted to me, saying/asking ... "I don’t understand why you all are dissing her?", and, "Truly do not understand why she is seen as a failure?"
I offered you a thorough explanation of my reasons, not that I owed them/anything, to you. Yet, you overlooked my entire reply and picked out one line, that you (obviously) misread. Have a good rest of your day.
“I’ll just DIE if I don’t get that recipe.”

Nailed it!
Agree 💯% !!
Yeah...on whose orders?
Great link—that is how professionals do it.
Thanks for posting that and YIKES.! I thought the criticism was hyperbole but nope, it was awful.
First off did anyone mention to her to stop smiling when you’re talking about serious issues and danger to your children? No I do not think this performance will win the support of suburban women but I also don’t think it will matter much. The election is a long way off.
👍🏼 👍🏼
There’s time to erase the memory, of that awful performance :)
LOL!
Great question.
Midge, is my guess.
Watched about as much of this as I did of the state of the union and I think i have a fair assessment of both.
Biden didnt look feeble, his voice was strong, he was talking much to loudly, too close to yelling and he was talking way too fast. He wasn’t the Biden Im used to seeing which must make Democrats happy but it gave me a weird feeling because it seemed obvious that he was “on” something.the writers did well to keep his sentences very short and the Democrats strategically clapped after each short sentence. Came off as a strong speech.
Rebuttal, Very engaging and compelling. She seemed to be acting. Not A class acting but good enough to be in a made for TV Christian movie. I get the sense that this would not work for Trump voters but this would be great for “The View” audience. She talked to the audience and not at the audience and I think that works for these emotional women who keep putting Democrats in power. One complaint is that some of the words really didnt call for a big smile but she kept it most od the time.
Conclusion: speech and rebuttal most likely both worked for the audience they were targetting.
I didnt know this girl before. I suspect she would drive Trump supporters crazy if she were on the ticket but this is probably a good TYPE of VP pick if you’re thinking about someone who can help with a constituency but I don’t think Trump would choose her because I don’t think he thinks she can be President from day one.
She was pathetic.
It was a short answer without malice aforethought…….as I am knee deep in tax
minutia
Sorry to offend you.
Suffice to say I don’t think this young lady deserves such ridicule.
She did a much better job than Joe. It was quite the contrast. Did she over-act somewhat, yeah, it was a little over the top sometimes. But it wasn’t that bad for someone probably not used to addressing the entire country. And remember WE weren’t her intended audience.
What a standard to judge her on! Biden grotesquely exceeded expectations for him.
And she grotesquely fell below expectations for a GOP response.
She had been overcoached into a faint version of her regular, more normal, self. But she went along with it.
