NYT said Cheney advised Haley not to drop out. I could post a link but they have a paywall. I don’t think either one believes that Haley will win the primaries, but Haney could tell her donors that she is waiting for Trump to be stopped by Engoron fines or prison.
“Haney could tell her donors that she is waiting for Trump to be stopped by Engoron fines or prison.”
Yeah. I think that’s exactly what’s going on.
That is correct but the date was January 25.
A lot has happened since then.
Let us recap those events:
—February 7—None of the above crushes Nikki in Nevada primary
—February 8—President Trump wins all Nevada delegates in caucus and wins Virgin Islands caucus
—February 24—President Trump crushes Nikki in her home state of South Carolina, wins 47 out of 50 delegates
—February 27—President Trump crushes Nikki by forty percentage points in Michigan
—March 2—President Trump sweeps all 122 delegates in Michigan convention and Missouri and Idaho caucuses.
Summary: When Liz Cheney made her remarks the delegate count was President Trump 33 to Nikki 17.
The current delegate count is President Trump 244 Nikki 24.

Here is a link to override the paywall:
There is nothing in US Constitution which forbids a person from running for president from prison. This already happened once before. A candidate from prison was on ballots in all 50 states.
