Long ago, I was stationed at Hahn AB in Germany. During alerts, I would head down to the Wing CP. Although my title was Army Liasion Officer, I was called to the Eagles Nest when an NBC warfare input was dropped. About a year into that role, we had a female Base Commander, the first at a Tactical Fighter Wing. During her first alert, she questioned why an “Army Lieutenant” was called, instead of her expert, the Base Disaster Preparedness Officer.
She was chewed out by the Wing Commander for a couple of minutes, it was hilarious.
