The prime suspect in the disappearance of 13-year-old Madeline Soto has been arrested and now faces charges in connection to disturbing footage discovered on his phone, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Stephan Sterns, 37, the boyfriend of Soto’s mother, was the last person confirmed to have seen the girl Monday morning, the sheriff’s office said.
An affidavit for Sterns’ arrest warrant describes how Soto’s mother reported Madeline missing around 8 p.m. Monday, telling investigators that Sterns had picked the girl up from her home and dropped her off that morning at Hunter’s Creek Middle School. When Soto’s mother went to the school to pick her up around 4:30 p.m. however, she was told Madeline wasn’t there and had never been at school that day, deputies said, adding the girl had left her phone at home.
Sterns refused to show up for his first appearance, according to the judge Thursday morning. Sterns faces charges of sexual battery and possession of child sexual abuse material, according to the sheriff’s office.

Not at all-I said it makes no sense to even go on a date with a person without all the pertinent facts. To do is beyond stupid and irresponsible for any adult-they own any consequences, no exceptions to that. Anyone with/without kids who gets involved with someone who has a criminal record has emotional/self esteem problems from the getgo-they need to be getting therapy-not dating...

I’m so old-fashioned that I read the headline thinking he was the boyfriend of the girl, and that the mom had gone missing.
I was watching part of the trial for three Tacoma, Washington cops that were charged with beating and killing a guy. One of the witnessess captured part of it on her cell phone.
She had posted the video to the internet. When the investigators asked to see the phone so they could determine if there was any video taken before or after what she posted she said she would come in the following day.
Well, somehow, by accident, her phone password had been disabled due to too many attempts using the wrong password. She didn’t know how that happened. Maybe her toddler had gotten hold of it and pressed the buttons.
So then they told her to bring it in anyway. But when she went to go get it out of her purse it was broken beyond repair. She didn’t know how that happened, maybe her toddler had dropped it.
The three cops were found not guilty. But, after the trial they were fired by the department. Oops - voluntarily separated from the department.
No one is talking about that here-this thread was not about women who kill kids or the crime/sin of abortion-that is an entirely different issue. Women are also perfectly capable of every evil as well as men, without pressure from anyone-I did not say they were not-pressure from another is not an excuse for any criminal act, I don’t care who you are. There is enough of both to go around-This has been going on since i was a teen/young adult-it was dumb then and is now. As for being awake-the most hated part of my job a few years ago was to visit comp clients who were in the nearby medium security prison every 2 weeks-that is no longer done, gracias a Dios. But I have to say that I saw less hate and intolerance among those inmates than I experience from some ordinary clients in my office-there are some crazy people out there...
