House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) reacted with me-against-the-world hype to reports that fellow bigwigs ganged up on him in a meeting with President Joe Biden.(Watch the video below.)
Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Johnson Wednesday if articles were accurate that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) pressed him hard on issues that included funding forUkraine’s flagging war effort.
“Well, their reports are pretty accurate. They said that I was on an island by myself, and it was me versus everyone else in the room,” Johnson said, referring to a Politico story.
“What the liberal media doesn’t understand, Sean, is that if you’re here in Washington and you’re described as a leader that’s on an island by themselves, it probably means you’re standing with the American people,” he continued. “And that’s what I did yesterday, I reminded the president, and all involved that the No. 1 issue in America is that open border. The catastrophe that we have that President Biden himself designed, that he caused and created, and I told him, just as I have many times before, he must address it with his executive authority. We can’t wait any longer.”

Bravo!
Is he just talking as usual or did he do something?
“or did he do something”
He did NOTHING and therefore served the best interests of the American people by standing resolute.
I think he’s doing a fine job. He was a wonk back bencher who was a compromise candidate for the leadership and he’s doing great rising to the occasion. His caucus needs to stand behind him and avoid the typical self-interested backstabbing and undermining that goes on in the swamp.
He’s been doing what he can to not be a complete pushover.
Johnson was responding to the Politico story. They took a cheap shot at Johnson. He turned it around to his advantage and Huff Post uses his answer to mock him.
He didn’t say “Hey, I’m a hero.” He just used the “I’m in there everyday fighting for the folks” answer that every politician does.
“ He did NOTHING and therefore served the best interests of the American people by standing resolute”
Standing resolute what? What did he do?
What is it about prioritizing the security of our Sovereign Borders (which IS the job description and OATH for all of those leaders!), over the concerns of foreign nations, that bothers you???
“ responding to the Politico story. They took a cheap shot at Johnson.”
I’m sorry, what?
He’s reacting to Politico? He doesn’t know they’ll cheap shot him for the next 40 years or however long this career politician chooses to be in office? Btw voting down term limits for Congress, maintaining term limits for Trump
Sounds like he's got a bad case of butt hurt. Probably not the first time for him.
He sat in the house of evil surrounded by demonRATs and didn’t cave? Which other Republican didn’t cave in that circumstance?
I swear, some people would complain if they were hanged with a new rope.
If the Huff ‘n’ Puff Post doesn’t like Mike Johnson, then I love him.
He was asked about the article in the interview. He was put on the spot in a real-time situation, so his response wasn’t likely to be carefully crafted.
That's why they're pushing him so hard. He's not caving like McCarthy/Boehner/Frist/Lott would.

You really think there’s gonna be gov’t shutdown in a little over a week? A betrayal from Johnson is imminent here. I’ll gladly eat crow if I’m wrong…
You would be informed by reading the article.
Don’t forget Paul Ryan with his islam solidarity beard doing everything the Democrats said to do.
Hannity let him get a word in edgewise?
The Huffington Puffington Post?

It's funny how Congress has only one Constitutionally defined position, and yet it's the self-created positions that are trying to boss around everyone else.
