Teachers deliver and grade all their assignments through Google Classroom. Students write all their papers through Google Docs and create their presentations in Google Slides. Online worksheets, quiz programs, and educational games are designed to integrate with the Google suite.

I am subbing in a Jr High as I type this. The statement above is quite true. Every kid is doing lessons on Google Classroom via the vile Chromebooks. As a sub, I cannot actually see what they are getting from Google Classroom unless I am standing behind them and reading over their shoulders. But the lessons look to be short and game-like.

And if a kid says his Chromebook isn’t working or he can’t find it, he thinks he can sit and do nothing for the hour.

It’s to my old, retired teacher’s mind, crazy. They need to read and frankly they don’t/can’t. And this rant has nothing to do with the insanity we now see with the Google AI algorithms, just the use of Google and Chromebooks.

It drives me crazy.
I rarely see them reading an actual book.
