Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said Wednesday that he will step down as Republican leader in the Senate in November.
McConnell, 82, revealed his plans in an address to the Senate, where he currently serves as minority leader.
McConnell, who is the longest-serving Senate caucus leader in history, plans to keep his seat in the chamber, which he took in 1985. His current term ends in January 2027.

The only good he did was push Trump judges and prevented Garland from being nominated by the magic negro.
Light at the end of the tunnel.
You are largely right, but I do not think any special election is warranted for Senate seats. Yes, for House, not for Senate.
His appointed replacement serves til the end of the term of whoever is replaced.
As a Texan I say not just no, but H3LL NO!

I am also for Texas, and I agree wholeheartedly with you. Cornholio shouldn’t even be in the United States Senate, let alone the Republican leader. He is a disgusting RINO slimeball (but I repeat myself).
Probably should watch his step... He’s fallen a few times.
My first thought.

Then this.
Why put off to tomorrow what you could get done today?
Rand Paul....please! The spoiler of bureaucrats.
Governor Beshear might run for McConnell’s seat in 26. I’m thinking probably not against McConnell. Kentucky re-elected Beshear in 23 and he has a chance to flip the seat though presidential and Senate races in Kentucky recently have been 20 point blowouts for the Republican. I’d be surprised if Thune wasn’t the new Republican leader. He should try to develop a cordial relationship with Trump. As a lifelong Kentuckian I have my problems with Mitch but he and Trump worked together effectively, particularly on judges, during Trump’s term. You don’t have to like someone but you should work with them for the party.
I didn’t know he was still alive.
November? How about tomorrow?
moving to china?
Precisely
Has his wife converted the Yuans to Dollars yet?
She’s long on the Euro…
That is true and probably the reason he is waiting until November.
Dangit, now I’m even more depressed.
