Residents in Toronto are hiding their cars in secret locations and hideouts with round-the-clock security to combat the city's out-of-control car theft.
The revelation, reported by The New York Times, comes weeks after federal liberals announced a national summit aimed at addressing the nationwide issue.
The publication spoke to collectors who have taken to storing luxury cars in compounds with hired guards and dogs at night, only to still have them burglarized.

Between the reluctance to go EV and rampant theft, people simply will hang on to their old vehicles longer.... I can already see that happening. Why plunk down obscene amounts of money for a new BMW when the old Corolla will last fine for a few more years? The other day, someone here suggested that in a few years, it will look like Cuba with folks driving 50 year old cars that they keep overhauling.

A friend of mine had family truck stolen, wrecked and dumped recently from a nice traditional section of Pittsburgh, thieves were a gang of yutes coming through and harassing area, police can do nothing, people took photos of gang, nothing happens.
