Yes, we actually do. The rifles were supplied to the Palestinian authority by us. Try to keep up.
So did Clinton, So did Bush.
Your use of the comparison to that post as a response for cheering Russian gains against us in Europe was silly.
It’s now at a point where the West $hits, or gets off the pot.
Money and equipment alone won’t fix it anymore.
Ukraine is running out of bodies, losing more ground, and BS stories about Russian losses, glorious counter offensives, wonder weapons, and calling everyone a Putin propagandist that mentions things aren’t going so well, isn’t going to deflect from reality anymore.
Why is it possible that western forces help Ukraine? France which has already lost active duty personal there hiding under the guise of being mercenaries, sees this as an opportunity to take on a greater leadership role in Europe. Also, notice that this is not through / under NATO.
https://www.politico.eu/article/macron-wants-to-lead-on-ukraine-but-france-might-not-let-him/
France has always seen themselves as the leader in Europe, NATO (the US) being in their way, and security policy / defense being the issue by which they attain that position. The garden gnome is making a run for it again. Will they manage to escalate the war and cause more people to die in order to position themselves in pole position in Europe? I doubt it, but they’re trying.
The Abrams is dead.
It has been for a while.
It’s just a symbol of American military might at this point for kids that don’t know better.
Not convinced? Do you really think a tank with 1 inch of steel on the roof in the era of dive and top attack weapons is highly survivable? Do you really think a tank like the M1 in the era where North Korea, Iran, Russia, China, EVERYONE has thermal sights isn’t visible from as far as you have line of sight? Do you think a tank designed for a defense in Europe where mines aren’t a major concern, with a flat and thin belly is survivable in the offense on enemy ground where they bury big mines and ieds?
The M1 today is a dinosaur kept alive by applique tech we bolt onto it in armor (ERA), soft and hard kill systems, countermeasures... But against a capable threat, this tank is no longer viable.
Sadly, FCS was killed by Obama. We need new ground combat systems (tank, personnel carrier, etc), badly! We have needed these for YEARS!!! Chasing backward morons in a desert in the Middle East isn’t the same thing.
The M1 was revolutionary.
The M1 especially in its A1 (1985 ~ 1997) variant when it came out reigned supreme for a long time. At the end of the Cold War, this tank stood towering above the threat T72/80 of it’s time.
This really was a “steel beast.”
But like most weapon systems, may that be a gatlin gun, Smith and Wesson revolver, Henry/Spencer rifle, M1 Garand, P-51 Mustang, B-29 ... these weapons had their time. The M1 is past it’s time.

This is an issue where the entire concept of the weapon system is obsolete.
It’s not a Cold War where we are in the defense and on friendly ground. The RPG7 with a unitary warhead with about 400mm penetration isn’t the threat, nor is a AT-3 Sagger. Today, a thermal sight isn’t novel. Fire and forget, dive attack, weapons are proliferated, so have FPV drones...
We can today thank Obama for being in this situation.
