A prominent Alabama state judge was seriously wounded Saturday when a domestic dispute escalated into a shooting, and authorities took his adult son into custody.

Montgomery County Judge Johnny Hardwick, a jurist for more than two decades and the current president of the Alabama Association of Circuit Court Judges, was listed in serious condition Saturday evening after undergoing surgery.

Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham said Hardwick’s 36-year-old son, Khalfani Hardwick, was arrested shortly after the shooting occurred.

Khalfani Hardwick pled guilty in June 2017 to shooting and wounding a man in the head in Montgomery in 2014, according to local TV reports.

Khalfani is the masculine of Fani. I think I see a pattern. Those southern judges do nothing to represent integrity on or off the bench.

The name Khalfani is of African-Swahili origin. It is used mainly in African and Swahili. It means successor or ruler.

“Those southern judges do nothing to represent integrity on or off the bench.”

Southern? You think there might be, I don’t know, some other common factor involved?

Toby is so much easier to pronounce, and to spell.

Khalfani, on the other hand, sounds like the perfect name for a native of Wakanda.

It’s a Swahili name.

That’s Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Last I checked they are still in Africa.

Per the article you linked.

Attempted murder suspect who skipped trial found

Khalfani Hardwick, the defendant in an attempted murder trial in Montgomery who failed to appear for his trial on Monday, has been arrested.

A warrant for his arrest was issued and his bond was revoked by Judge John Rochester when Hardwick did not show up.

He was also arrested in 2014.

When I was a kid way back in the 50’s and 60’s, Blacks had the same names as Whites, Bobby, Susan, Billy, Sarah, etc.
You could not read an article and tell the color of a person unless it was mentioned in the article.
Now, I can read an article and tell just by the names...................

Exactly. Why are Blacks so intent on naming their children after the people who sold their ancestors into slavery in the first place?.......................
