Newly released video shows the 16-year-old nonbinary student who died the day after a fight in an Oklahoma high school bathroom recounting the events leading up to the brawl to a cop — who said the teen “essentially started it.”
Nex Benedict appeared conscious and alert in the police bodycam footage as they sat in a hospital bed during police questioning after their bullies allegedly bashed their head against the floor.
The sophomore and their mother told an Owasso school course officer that a group of girls that had been “antagonizing” them in the days before had been picking on Nex and their friends over the way they dressed.

How to spell “their” schizophrenia.
Them?
“Nex,” a girl claiming to be neither female nor male, started a fight in the bathroom with some other girls. The other girls beat Nex up and banged her head on the floor. The hospital released Nex, but she later died of her head injury, which was obviously more serious than the medical personal realized.
It is a very sad story.
Gah. “Medical personnel.”
Freaks like that *have* to understand that that they’ll get their a$$es kicked regularly.

"We are legion!"
How many of them were there? If they had enough to ward off the offenders, then why were they in a hospitable bed. And anyway, how many of them can a hospital bed hold.
But they have to be binary because each of them has two fists to throw punches; ok, only one at a time. But there might have been many of them. I am so confused . . .
“The story is very bizarre. I’m not even sure what happened”
They wouldn’t be dead (and neither would he) if the school did not INDULGE this crap.
(and to think, some claim we somehow can win WW3 with this garbage going on)
Sounds like some of them girls in the conventional wisdom gang beat the hell out of some other of the them and they died. All of their parents need hauled out in the street and beat with a 2x4.
3 girls decided 3 on1 was a fair fight and now a confused 16 year old is dead. Savages.
Apparently, “it” (a boy pretending to be a girl) slipped and fell during a confrontation with girls in the girl’s bathroom. It was reported as an “incident” at school. The parent of “it” stated originally that “it” had died of injuries from the “incident”. An investigation proved that this was not the case, that “it” had died of some other cause than the the “incident” at school. This leaves the ugly possibility of suicide or abuse/intentional death to make this “incident” seem much more than it was.
I assume it went like this:
A guy (pretending to be a girl) who, while with his other boy-is-now-girl friends (our even some sympathetic girls) started something in a girls bathroom with a bunch of girls already in that bathroom, and a brawl ensued.
The guy pretending to be a girl was beat up badly enough to be taken to the hospital where he was interviewed by cops who say HE started it, and he died the next day due to the delayed and unexpected results of some injury incurred during the brawl.
People who disseminate news today are idiots. And they have created this garbage that requires this kind of translation.
non-binary —> ‘them’
sigh...when words have no meaning...you can’t even understand the story without decoding the words.
“The hospital released Nex, but she later died of her head injury...”
It’s not clear that’s true. The police issued a report that said her death was unrelated to trauma.
“The death of 16-year-old nonbinary student Nex Benedict was not caused by injuries sustained in a fight in a school bathroom the day before, authorities said Wednesday.
A preliminary autopsy report by the medical examiner’s office indicated the Oklahoma teen did not die from trauma, Owasso police said.”
I would wait until a more thorough autopsy is completed. Certainly, since she was knocked unconscious, some brain trauma could be the cause, but we just don’t know yet.
This pronouns crap is making news stories incomprehensible.
From article-”The girls continued beating Nex until they blacked out, the teen said...]
From the video clip, Nex doesn’t look like she was in a knockdown brawl with 3 other people that left her unconscious. I’ll wait for the tox screen. Probably not a good idea to start a fight with 3 people by throwing water on them if you can’t take on 3 people.
I agree with you. The victim evidently started things by throwing water. Stupid move on his (her?) part. Although the water injured no one, it was wrong to throw it. And it probably was a criminal offense.
The three girls took that as reason enough to lay down a fatal beating. Who behaves that way? Savages do.
I saw more than one incident like that in my years as an urban public school teacher. Person A does something minor to Person B. Might have been accidental. Might have been intentional. Person B reacts savagely. Police show up. Ambulance shows up. Janitors have to clean blood off the walls and floor.
I never saw anyone actually get killed, although that did happen in another school in my district.
When you start to pander to mentally ill/delusional people and adopt their self-defined pronouns, it really messes up rational reporting. In this example, the delusional/mentally ill victim used grammatically incorrect "they/them" pronouns, so the foregoing sentence is unclear as to who actually "blacked out."
Whatever happened, it’s a damned shame.
Much of gender dysphoria is suggested to emotionally and socially insecure and confused teens and encouraged by social media, peers, sometimes parents, teachers, and people in the medical profession who stand to benefit from it. I have read of high schools that have upwards of 20% of girls who identify as something other than heterosexual females. That’’s statistically impossible.Someone needs to take a hard look at that.
And media writers need to stop using third person plural pronouns and possessive adjectives when referring to a singular person. It just doesn’t work in English.
