The Mississippi National Guard said the crash happened about 2 p.m. Friday.
Two service members were killed during a training flight Friday when their military attack helicopter crashed near the small city of Booneville, Mississippi, Gov. Tate Reeves said.
"Mississippi will always be grateful for their service and we will never forget them," Reeves said on social media platform X.
The two-seat AH-64 Apache was on a routine training flight when it was reported down about 2 p.m., the Mississippi National Guard said in a statement.
The sheriff of Prentiss County, Randy Tolar, told NBC affiliate WLBT of Jackson that the aircraft went down off Highway 30 near Mount Olive Baptist Church.
The church is in the town of Baldwyn, which is in Prentiss and Lee counties in northeast Mississippi. Baldwyn is about 11 miles south of Booneville.
The incident is the subject of an "active response," the Mississippi National Guard said.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
First time I’ve heard of an Apache going down in routine training.
Geez...this is getting kinda scary. What the H is going on with our military?
Since 9-11 we have put a tremendous workload on both our pilots, aircraft and ground crews.
God Bless and Protect the men and women that fly and maintain these aircraft.
Given the number of military incidents/crashes lately (and the loss of life), I’m starting to think it is due to either deliberate sabotage or DEI centered military enrollment/hiring/training. This should not and would not be happening with such frequency in a properly trained, monitored, and properly maintained military unit. Wouldn’t one think that with the previous “accidents” there would MORE care and training to make sure there is not a repeat?

Exactly right! These are our sons and daughters, and we’re losing them because of poor leadership. It hurts every time I see one of these kids die.
Lt. Col. Dr. Theresa Long, MD: “Hell No” to Any COVID-19 Vax, Lt. Col. Theresa Long is a Medical Doctor at Fort Rucker who is one of the U.S. Army’s top Flight Surgeons and an expert on public health.
Long makes sure military pilots are ready and able to fly America’s complicated and lethal aircraft. When asked if the COVID-19 vax is safe for pilots, she replies “Hell no, I don’t think it’s safe.”
Were they vaxed?
<< Were they vaxed?>>
Wasn’t the military forced to Vax ?
“...during training flight in Mississippi”.
We were expecting a lot of ‘training accidents’ as the war heated up in Ukraine.
