Attack fatigue. Even so-called victories against Trump are pyrrhic since there is never any credible substance to them and inflicted by people who are always found to be corrupt and in pursuit of corrupt agendas. Trump won't fold in the face of that, just keeps grinding forward day by day. He's single handedly changed the rules.

Gary Hart’s problem is that he had such a squeaky clean image and fawning media that nobody was prepared for the excrement to hit the rotating blades—and Atwater was a brilliant pro who knew how to hit quick and hard.

You can’t viciously attack someone with hundreds of charges for close to a decade and expect the next attack to matter.
