Gary Hart’s problem is that he had such a squeaky clean image and fawning media that nobody was prepared for the excrement to hit the rotating blades—and Atwater was a brilliant pro who knew how to hit quick and hard.
You can’t viciously attack someone with hundreds of charges for close to a decade and expect the next attack to matter.
