A United Auto Workers (UAW) local union, UAW Local 62, and Ford have reached a deal to avert a strike at a Louisville, Ky., truck plant.

The deal comes as the UAW union said nearly 9,000 autoworkers threatened to strike Friday at Ford’s most profitable plant that produces SUVs and pickups.

Ford was “pleased to have reached a tentative agreement on a new labor contract,” according to a statement provided Wednesday to The Hill.

The UAW said “local issues” related to “skilled trades, ergonomics and health & safety” were addressed with the deal. The union added that contracts with three major automakers — Stellantis, General Motors and Ford — are still in negotiations.

I thought the auto companies moved to the south to avoid the labor unions.

It’s a weird world. I have owned a Ford pickup that was made in Canada and a Toyota that was built in Tennessee.

Tacomas are now built in Ol Mexico.

I think my 2012 Tacoma was still built in San Antonio.

If I was Ford, I would move all their plants to Mexico. FU to the UAW.

The UAW better start to worry more about the quality of the cars they build or there will be no jobs. There is not one single new American car or truck I would buy. I just saw that Ford had to recall the new Broncos because of broken engine valves. Engine valves! WTF thought it was a good idea to save $ on effing valves?

The Big 3 deserve to go under. Unfortunate, but they just can’t stop churning out inferior crap.

You’re right. The UAW is acting like the US auto industry is still tops in the world, but one look at any highway or parking lot tells a different story.
