It takes money to make money, as the old saying goes, and, apparently, it also takes money — as much as $53 million — to give money away.
Earlier this month, The Post broke the story that Mayor Adams is giving out pre-paid cash cards to migrants.
Unusually for the mayor, Adams didn’t publicize this story himself, and his administration has for nearly a month failed to correct several public misperceptions about it.
One misperception is that the program allows the city to give out just $50 million to migrants.
No wonder the mayor has been reticent.
This debit-card program — if you read the actual contract — has the potential to become an open-ended, multi-billion-dollar Bermuda Triangle of disappearing, untraceable cash, used for any purpose.
It will give migrants up to $10,000 each in taxpayer money with no ID check, no restrictions and no fraud control.
The only clue is from a stray off-the-cuff comment Adams made at a reception earlier this month, calling MoCaFi a minority business “that we met on the campaign trail. . . . Little did we know that God is going to say there’s going to be a crisis, you’re going to have to meet them. . . . And it’s going to cost us money” to “put investment . . . in our community.”
A year ago, the Adams administration was already eager to find something for MoCaFi to do. **
So, to sum up so far, the Adams administration, with no oversight, no consultation with the city council, and no public discussion, has given itself the flexibility to launch a massive parallel benefits program, alongside — not replacing — traditional welfare cash assistance and (for New Yorkers legally in the country long-term) federal food-stamps benefits.

The money will be used to stuff fraudulent ballots into counting centers for the 2024 Election.
Democrat slush fund - there will be no accounting of where the money went (and racist if you even ask).
10k would fly them all home or some other country else with gads to spare.
They’d go, too.
Tons on money will be leaving the US
Makes me want to go brown face and collect
The Great replacement. And the great irony.
Blacks are the most uniform consistent voting group for the Democrats. And they are the first that are going to be replaced by illegal aliens. One has to wonder will they figure this out before the program is complete? Based on past history I don’t expect it.
Meanwhile the homeless vets get nothing.
$50 million for people that DO NOTHING , PAY NO TAXES and NOT EVEN CITIZENS is Insane
Sounds like A State that should LOSE their statehood and President Trump should appoint a General to take over.
True. I’m sure others have seen this frequently but the first time I went into the gas station convenience store and saw some people in line to use a special dedicated phone line to send Western Union money to a Central American country, I was surprised.

“Data from the CPS Migration Supplement suggest that households sent an estimated $11.7 billion to relatives and friends outside the United States during the 12 months before the survey.”
Please, GOP, the other side is already putting TV ads about how heroic Biden has been.
Get the attack ads going!
TV ad with an African American man and his wife and two children in the room behind him.
“My family and I were all born here, and I believe there are many needy people in this country whom I would prefer to help with our tax money before people entering illegally should get millions of dollars.”
Maybe someone should tell the Hutu and Tutsi about this...

Western Union doesn’t classify Mexico as a “foreign country” for purposes of sending money.
A massive money laundering. - no taxes / cash kickbacks for the store or other middlemen - takes place in all of these illegal migrant communities.
They can get bank accounts now with NO social security numbers but mostly it’s a cash economy.
When I moved from N Calif to N Nevada 19 years ago-—I changed banks, of course. From a Calif local state bank to the same structure here in Nevada.
PATRIOT ACT was fresh & strict.
I had to produce:
PRIOR BANK STATEMENTS
DRIVER’S LICENSE
3 or 4 OTHER KINDS OF IDENTIFICATION—
I used my vehicle registrations/ my vehicle insurance cards/ Ownership of my registered Arabian horses/My social Security card & I do NOT remember what all else.
WITHIN 3 years of being here-—Bank of America & Wells Fargo were advertising heavily on TV that ILLEGALS COULD OPEN BANK ACCOUNTS WITH THEM-—NO ID.
I AM STILL PISSED OFF OVER THAT.
There is no obligation for government to financially support in any way those claiming asylum. The Democrats are using public tax dollars to buy gratitude that they can reasonably assume will translate to Democratic votes eventually.
Wealth redistribution. Anyone still living in NYC who can afford to move to somewhere sane is nuts.
How about flying?
Illegals can use their court notice (for a hearing they’ll never attend) to fly around the United States.
No ID. No passport. Just a letter.
We have less rights than illegals. $400 a day hotels. $10,000 gift cards. Free smart phones (have to be smart phones to keep up with court dates). Free food.
Free education for their kids. Free healthcare.
“Have you ever seen this much chocolate”! proclaimed Adams at a city council meeting. He and they can freely give out money to the invaders while watching his own people struggle
They are also able to board commercial flights all over the U.S. (paid for by taxpayer).
Meanwhile, flying anywhere is a massive hassle for U.S. citizens - expensive, show ID several times, take off shoes, irradiated, searched (as my son always is and I have been as well).
This infuriates me - I hope the $$ used to pay the illegals cash cards is from New York taxpayers.
