The Czech Republic has found about 800,000 artillery shells of NATO and Soviet-era caliber that can be shipped to Ukraine in a few weeks.

However, for this, funding must be secured quickly.

Czech President Petr Pavel stated this during a debate at the Munich Security Conference.

According to the Czech President, the country’s representatives managed to find about 500,000 155-mm artillery shells and 300,000 122-mm shells abroad.

He added that they could be transported to Ukraine in a matter of weeks if funding is secured quickly.

For me, the difficulty of quickly digging holes for the 155 spades during a quick-fire when seconds counted was an obvious point of impossibility for the female, also the fact that I could single-handedly remove, carry and set a spade demonstrated the extra possibilities and depth gained by having all-male crews.

For an M198 (and for that matter, an M777), digging in was a very manly exercise and could not happen quickly: the training standard for time for a "hipshoot" was 12 MINUTES to go from towed to emplaced and firing - and that was with a full 11-man gun crew plus driver whaling away !

I always hated to watch those things: men running, heavy tube, Travel Lock, trails, spades, wheels and firing platform all moving at once, sledgehammers, long pry bars, shovels, dust flying and my Battalion Surgeon standing by.

As far as I know, only the Marine Corps still thought that the 155 was an adequate expeditionary direct support artillery system. With the old M101A1, we could fire the first round in a hipshoot in 30 seconds and fire fore effect with the whole battery in one minute.

Honest.

You clearly have more faith in the competency of “our brass” than I do.

American quality munitions? Read up on the US torpedoes in World War 2. Some Navy officers should have been publicly shot over that, as well as some suppliers.

What happens in June?

Another supply will magically appear.

Taiwan probably has a large supply that they would be willing to tap in exchange for a few tactical nukes. Korea as well.

Did the Ukes complain about duds in the 2 million rounds we’ve already sent? Nope. Speaking of quality American munitions in WWII, over the years I’ve shot up quite a few rounds WWII 30-06. Other than being corrosive, it was fine.

Is that Soviet communist stooge, Pavel still demanding that our grandchildren pay up before the first round is sent? Let me know when the first shells are fired against the Russians. Trading 3lb fpd bombs for 1500kg Russian glide bombs isn’t working out very well for our corrupt Uke Quislings in Kiev.
