The Czech Republic found almost a million shells for Ukraine

The Czech Republic has found about 800,000 artillery shells of NATO and Soviet-era caliber that can be shipped to Ukraine in a few weeks.

However, for this, funding must be secured quickly.

Czech President Petr Pavel stated this during a debate at the Munich Security Conference.

According to the Czech President, the country’s representatives managed to find about 500,000 155-mm artillery shells and 300,000 122-mm shells abroad.

He added that they could be transported to Ukraine in a matter of weeks if funding is secured quickly.

If true, this is a disgrace. First, how do you “discover” a million rounds?!? Don’t the Czechs know what’s going on around Avdiivka? That is happening partly because the Ukes have no counter battery artillery munitions. Funding? What the heck? This ammunition is there, in theater, and it’s not being used. Unconscionable!

Not to put the U.S. Congress in the picture or anything

If they just "found" them, why not just send them?

You really should read the articles before you post them and make disparaging remarks. It says the Czechs managed to find the ammunition abroad, meaning in other countries, with no indication it’s already “in theater”. The Czechs have been searching around the globe for ammo that could be purchased and sent to Ukraine to help them defeat the invading orc army.

Czechs are no fools. They see a golden opportunity to get in on the grift.

Its the dirty secret, there is no lack of weapons, the Biden administration just has not sent Ukraine enough weapons to win.

“If true, this is a disgrace. First, how do you “discover” a million rounds?!?”

Poor record keeping leading to forgotten storage warehouses.

I mean no offense here but it would not surprise me if there’s places in Russia with millions of guns and ammunition left over and forgotten from the Soviet era.

Kinda like a doctor arguing about who will pay for the antidote in his satchel while the patient dies. NATO Judas Euroweenies. As much as I hate to admit it, we are a charter member of the North Atlantic Euroweenie Organization.

“If true, this is a disgrace.”

“However, for this, funding must be secured quickly.”

Almost certainly FAKE NEWS, since literally EVERY SHELL produced in the West is tracked.

Much more likely is that they will say call it an ‘accounting error’ once they get the $61 Billion needed to ship the shells (which comes out to just under $100,000 each to ship a 50 lb shell).

Vietnam and 50 year old shells? Maybe one of the former Yugoslav states? Trying to think who would have supplies like that of both sizes. Mozambique might be another candidate. Ethiopia? In any event, they are likely old, and I wouldn’t want to be near the sending end any more than the receiving end.

The Chechs should pay for it, it’s the least they could do.

Hold up there, fine gentleman. Last summer NATO scoured the world for 155mm. We were assured that after cleaning out our ME reserves, Greek and South Korean stores and every spare round in the states, there was nothing left but cluster munitions. If you’ve listened to the Senate bull$hitters lately, you’d know that’s gone too.
You are absolutely right about the Russians stores. The horrific aerial bombing we are watching in Ukraine are Soviet era 500, 1000 and 1500 kg bombs refitted to be accurate, stand off glide bombs. The Russians have millions of them. Are the “allies” going to find thousands of Patriot missiles that can be had for a price? The Russians are uncontested in the skies over eastern Ukraine because the Ukes have no air defense missiles for their batteries.
