It’s California... “Legally prohibited” could mean any arbitrary BS some Cali-kook thought up to make it easier to do EXACTLY this...
Because guns are registered in California, they know who has possession of them.
They did not say the guns were illegal. This may indicate the very wealthy person who owned these guns believed he was complying with the law.
It will be interesting to see the details of this case.
