Montana GOP Rep. Matt Rosendale has dropped out of the state GOP Senate primary less than a week after announcing his campaign, he confirmed to Politico.
Rosendale lost to Montana Democratic Sen. Jon Tester in a 2018 bid and last week sought to mount a second attempt, entering a crowded Republican primary that had already seen Senate leadership rally behind businessman Tim Sheehy.
Former president Donald Trump also endorsed Sheehy.
Rosendale's departure from the race came the same day that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell indicated he would be "involved" in the primary to Sheehy's benefit.

Joy.
Looks like he took the money
Bribed or there’s pics…
A loser to begin with.
Might be too right-at least the image.
Governor Gianforte would be the strongest. Won’t do it. Playing it safe like the rest of them. The senate is more important than the Governors mansion but does it matter to these people?
Not to worry. We’ve got Hogan steppin’ up in Md.
Lots more of them love to run for the U.S. Senate because there are no term limits and they only have to face voters once every six years. The benefits are also much greater than being a small state governor.
Trump was probably right not supporting him, as he likely made the FATAL MISTAKE of being against the bloodbath in Ukraine...and just enough Republican voters would have held that against him for the Democrats to take the seat.
Lib Western Mont. ‘Rat “urban/edumacational” centers [Missoula, Bozeman, Butte, Helena, Whitefish, plus the Reservations] wins over the high plains [Rosendale’s district]?
Is Montana changing? Rural areas get more urban over time.
Jesse Helms successor is Linda. Rest my case.
Rosendale is a great rep and I think he has a wonderful future, he has just shown himself to be a team player. I don’t know the other guy.
Chris Christie has no fans here, but he had an epic quote for the ages when he was governor of New Jersey and he was asked if he’d consider running for the U.S. Senate:
”I would rather die than be in the United States Senate. I would be bored to death. Could you imagine me, banging around that chamber with 99 other people, asking for a motion on the amendment in the subcommittee? Forget it. You'd watch me just walk out and walk right into the Potomac River and drown. That would be it.”
LMAO.
I would have no problem supporting Rosendale, but it seemed odd that he jumped into this race long after the other guy had already lined up his support from the GOP leadership and President Trump.
Money, money, money, moneee! Money!!!
Less than a day after McConnell says no. The Republican Party is a scam.
Alberta’s Child, I love your Christie quote.
There is no way to predict these people consistently. James Lankford is my Senator from Oklahoma. Fully vetted, and even his goofy haircut was known in the first election cycle. I wonder WTH happened between here and D.C.? Stupidity rising to the top, naivety, money, dirt, or simply a Dim in GOP colors like too many others?
Jesse Helms successor is Linda. Rest my case.
Huh?
Sounds a lot like the Kari Lake episode.
GOOD!! GO SHEEHY!
But they get to spend 1/100 of the TRILLIONS that is spent in the US.
