US forces operating in the Arabian Sea have seized a massive arsenal of Iranian weapons that were bound for Houthi rebels in Yemen, the latest indication that Tehran plans to prolong the conflict in the region by supplying the terror group.

Photos posted online by CENTCOM, the United States command in the Middle East, show a United States Coast Guard ship beside a rusty skiff vessel on January 28. Another photo showed the cache of contraband that was found on board.

The weaponry included materials necessary for ballistic missiles, anti tank rockets and explosives as well as communication equipment.

Maybe I don’t get this kind of thing..

But why is OUR Coast Guard, not guarding OUR coast?

Why are they Guarding a coast in the Arabian Sea?

Is that a normal thing for USCG to do?

“A week before, two Navy SEALS were declared lost at sea after a 10-day search. The two went missing as they attempted to board a ship that was smuggling Iranian weapons.”

I hadn’t read or heard anything about that incident.

The Coast Guard used to be under a Department of Transportation.
It’s now under DHS.
Guarding our coast is racist.
Not guarding Israeli shipping profits is antisemitic.

“But why is OUR Coast Guard, not guarding OUR coast?”

The Coast Guard protects America and isn’t confined to operating in our waters. Patrols here continue as usual.

I'm in 100% agreement with your overall sentiment. Yes, we should be doing more to secure our coast.

That being said, if there's a case for us using some resources for safeguarding other waterways that are of interest to us, then the Suez Canal/Red Sea/Gulf of Aden is definitely one. If Reagan was right to do Operation Praying Mantis to protect oil ships traveling on the Persian Gulf, this area is way more important to us.

Billions in cash from Obama. Dementia Joe has freed up billions to Iran in international funds that were held up by sanctions. Joe was working to send billions more last fall, but then Oct. 7 happened and he had to call things off. It will only be temporary, Dems will find a way to keep funding Iranian terrorism.

Its all hands on deck. Proxy wars of empire across the globe, combined with DEI at home, have stretched the armed forces very thin

Most of the casualties taken in attacks on the US bases in eastern Syria have been national guard units.

the boat depicted is more like a junk or trawler sized boat ... a skiff is a tiny craft sized for one or two people at best ...

Nah, paid for with 6 billion Biden sent, plus all the money from the sanctions not being enforced. Lots and lots of oil revenue to boot.

It is not a “skiff” but rather a dhow. Even without the sail, it is a dhow.
