The US has new intelligence on Russian military capabilities related to its efforts to deploy a nuclear anti-satellite system in space, according to multiple sources familiar with the intelligence.
The intelligence was briefed to Congress and key US allies, and some lawmakers say it is serious enough that it should be declassified and made public. While the intelligence is concerning, multiple senior members of Congress briefed on the information on Wednesday emphasized that it does not pose an immediate threat to the US or its interests.
The system remains under development and is not yet in orbit, according to three US officials familiar with the intelligence. It’s not clear how far the technology has progressed, one of the officials said. A separate US official told CNN the threat does not involve a weapon that would be used to attack humans.

George Carlin, “Bi-partisan means some larger-than-usual deception is being carried out......”
We wouldn’t be hearing this cr@p if it was true.
While many here don’t care for him, I liked George Carlin.
One doesn’t have to agree with all of someone’s conclusions to appreciate someone’s thoughts.
He did get bitter after the loss of his wife.
That’s probably common though.
“Inside every cynical person is a disappointed idealist.”
Wait, you actually believe this is a legitimate concern?

Utter desperation to approve bothe FISA and money for Ukraine, these people are utter SCUM!!
The S-500 is rumored to be capable of anti satellite operations, a nuke isn’t necessary.
Only reason for a nuke in orbit would be for a 1st strike, EMP, or to power a satellite anti ballistic missile particle accelerator used for missile defense.
With a wide open southern border why go to the expense of orbit based weapons when an enemy could simply drive something into the US? If drugs can enter by the ton so could a nuke.
This story reads like it is intentional scare mongering, focusing on what ifs instead of actual current possibilities.
Solution? Raise taxes, stop drilling for oil, no in-person voting, jail Trump and his voters, open the borders..
Why do the deep state, military industrial complex, Pentagon swamp rats, etc. insist on making Russia a “bogeyman?” China is a REAL bogeyman that would suit their needs just fine: 10 times Russia’s population and probably 100 times as strong economically. Maybe it has something to do with Russia being “white,” nominally Christian, and opposed to homosexuality, pedophilia, trannies, etc...

Like most CONSERVATIVES here, I have ZERO TRUST in what the Deep State claims. They’ve lied to all of my adult life and on some VERY BIG issues.
They're certainly trying to imply that. The reality is that the platform is nuke powered to keep it on station for a long time. Many of ours's are as well.
The actual destructive end of the weapon would be either conventional or laser based.
My thinking too.
We abandoned our anti-sat tech as it throws junk everywhere in orbit.

Come on, Bob; you habitually denigrate the USA and elevate Russia. Hell, your posting history suggests you’d feel more at home in Russia. So, let’s cut to the chase, Bob: You can choose, right now, which country you’d prefer to live in — The USA or Russia. Choose one or the other, Bob; and declare it here on FR, on this forum.
In any event, that presentation echoes what the US has been saying for decades: Russia cannot be trusted. And, as Ronald Reagan said — in regards to the Russians — “Trust; but verify.”
And, that is not a new idea. Otto von Bismarck said of the Russians — some 150 years ago: “I don’t trust the Russians, because the Russians don’t trust themselves.”
I look forward to your declaration of preference, Bob.
I don’t care about Russia, you want me to believe the Deep State, which DESPISED Trump and tried to REMOVE HIM FROM OFFICE.
Sorry, no dice, at least from this CONSERVATIVE - but feel free to try that scam on others.
By the way, congratulations for you guys TRICKING enough Republicans to re-take the House seat that George Santos held.
Nice try, Bob.
I see you have not declared your preference: The USA or Russia.
Come on, Bob; just say which one.
And, Bob; who are those “you guys” you reference in your post?
Keep TRYING!!! You will NEVER get me to trust the DEEP STATE.
...and I doubt you’ll have any luck with anyone else here.
Bob; you continue to evade my question: Which country would you prefer to live in: The USA or Russia? It’s a simple question, Bob.
Bob, why are you evading that question?
