The US has new intelligence on Russian military capabilities related to its efforts to deploy a nuclear anti-satellite system in space, according to multiple sources familiar with the intelligence.

The intelligence was briefed to Congress and key US allies, and some lawmakers say it is serious enough that it should be declassified and made public. While the intelligence is concerning, multiple senior members of Congress briefed on the information on Wednesday emphasized that it does not pose an immediate threat to the US or its interests.

The system remains under development and is not yet in orbit, according to three US officials familiar with the intelligence. It’s not clear how far the technology has progressed, one of the officials said. A separate US official told CNN the threat does not involve a weapon that would be used to attack humans.

But OUR program was steps behind the Russian program. The inventor of the 'space weapon' defected to the US and helped us develop a killer satellite.

The Russians even tested theirs over the US just so we could see it.

Both nations realized that these killer satellites would be a very risky weapon to let loose. Both sides decided to limit the 'subject', or as Biden would put it 'put a lid on it . So... we can... they can, but the results to everything in orbit are so devastating, hopefully it will stay a last resort.

Today, Chairman Mike Turner shocked the DC system by proclaiming Russians from Outer Space were coming to destroy us.   This “deadly Russians” narrative, as sold by Mike Turner, supports:

(1) Ukraine funding,

(2) FISA reauthorization, and the

(3) “seven ways to Sunday” Deep State.

WASHINGTON DC – A vague warning by the chair of the House Intelligence Committee about a “serious national security threat” Wednesday is related to Russia’s attempts to develop an antisatellite nuclear weapon for use in space, according to two people familiar with the matter.

While the people did not provide further details on the intel, one of them noted the U.S. has for more than a year been concerned about Russia’s potentially creating and deploying an antisatellite nuclear weapon — a weapon the U.S. and other countries would be unable to adequately defend against.

In his statement Wednesday morning, Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) said his committee had made available the information about the national security threat and called on the administration to declassify the intelligence so officials and lawmakers could discuss the matter with allies.

It is not clear what prompted Turner to issue the statement now, as the intelligence has been available to leaders of the House intelligence committee and their top aides in a secure room on Capitol Hill for more than a week, one of the people said. Let me re-frame this. What if the story was that it was North Korea? Or Iran, that was trying/planning to do the “nukes-in-space” thing?
Or China?
It is equally likely (IMO) that any of them are working on this. But for some reason, the alert comes out with the name of Russia Russia RUSSIA attached.

If one doubts a nuke can be launched from outer space, remember that SpaceX can land its booster on a barge. Also, the in-orbit nuke can be designed to radiate microwaves for a electromagnetic pulse for the ground below as well as satellites above.
