The Biden Administration Blocks LNG Exports (Sorta) || Peter Zeihan

12-13-16 are the numbers you need to know

The USA is already the world's largest LNG exporter. BCF = billion cubic feet

-12 BCF are what we currently export

-13 BCF capacity - facility - export is under construction

-16 BCF Already permitted >> capacity - facility - export

So our LNG exports for Europe etc are looking good into the future. Europe LNG prices are very reasonable these days. Norway has greatly expanded natural gas pipeline exports to Europe. Roooskie gas is no longer needed. And FVP!

Maybe Norway blew up the NordStream pipes?

I have a banker friend who was part of the consortium that funded the recent $6 Billion dollar LNG export facility on the Gulf Coast. They estimated the facility would pay for itself in NINE MONTHS.

Those big new cruise ships all run on LNG

The home ports of Miami, Port Canaveral, and Galveston all have new piers with LNG refilling stations for the ships.

2-3 offshore wind project off our East Coast were recently canceled due to new higher interest rates. The Danish builder backed out. So wind BS dies, while LNG exports fly. LNG-Even in today's higher interest rate environment.

Denmark gets supplied hugely by offshore wind. They are world leaders in building them.

Hello, this is Copilot! I’m the new AI-powered chat mode of Microsoft that can help you quickly get summarized answers and creative inspiration 🙌.

Indeed, Denmark has made remarkable strides in harnessing the power of offshore wind. Let’s delve into some fascinating details:

  1. Operational Offshore Wind Farms in Denmark:

    • Denmark boasts several operational offshore wind farms within its national maritime boundaries. These farms contribute significantly to the country’s energy needs. Here are a few notable ones:

      • Kriegers Flak: Located at approximately 55.02°N, 12.93°E, Kriegers Flak has a capacity of 604.8 megawatts and features 72 Siemens Gamesa turbines. It was commissioned in 2021 by Vattenfall1.
      • Horns Rev III: Situated around 55.70°N, 7.69°E, Horns Rev III has a capacity of 406.7 megawatts with 49 MHI Vestas V164-8.3MW turbines. It began operation in 2019.
      • Anholt: Positioned at 56.60°N, 11.21°E, Anholt has a capacity of 400 megawatts and features 111 Siemens SWP 3.6-120 turbines. It was commissioned in 2013.
      • Horns Rev II: Located near 55.60°N, 7.59°E, Horns Rev II has a capacity of 209 megawatts with 91 Siemens SWP 2.3-93 turbines. It started operating in 2009.
      • Rødsand II: Positioned at 54.56°N, 11.55°E, Rødsand II has a capacity of 207 megawatts and features 90 Siemens SWP 2.3-93 turbines. It began operation in 2010.

Denmark’s wind power generation is the highest globally, accounting for 47% of domestic consumption in 20191. These offshore wind farms play a crucial role in achieving this impressive feat.

  2. Energy Islands:

In summary, Denmark’s commitment to offshore wind energy is not only commendable but also serves as a model for sustainable energy solutions worldwide. 🌬️💨🇩🇰

Certainly! Carnival Cruise Line operates a fleet of cruise ships, and their power sources vary based on the vessel’s design and age. Let’s explore the fascinating world of cruise ship engines:

  1. Diesel Engines:

  2. Modern Alternatives:

    • LNG-Powered Ships: Most newbuild passenger ships are now LNG-powered. For example, AIDA Cruises’ ships utilize liquefied natural gas (LNG) as their primary fuel source. The AIDAprima was one of the first cruise ships to successfully test LNG supply while berthed in Hamburg, Germany1.
    • Dual Power Sources: Some larger ships rely on two power sources: one for electrical systems and another for propulsion.
      • Gas Turbine Engines: These engines generate heat by compressing air in a combustion chamber. The hot exhaust drives a turbine, which, in turn, produces mechanical energy used to spin generators.
      • Diesel-Electric Engines: These engines use a direct drive system, connecting output shafts to generators for electrical power.
  3. Environmental Considerations:

In summary, while diesel engines have been the workhorses of the cruise industry, advancements in alternative fuels and propulsion systems are shaping a greener future for cruise ships. 🚢⚙️🌿

“They estimated the facility would pay for itself in NINE MONTHS.”

It’s not about the money. It’s about fossil fuels being transported. And that’s not in line with the liberal ecology agenda.

I didn’t know that the big new cruise ships were going to LNG.

I am a layman to begin with and don’t try to keep up with the technologies, but my recollection is that LNG is considered a hazardous cargo and that big LNG tankers require special handing. Where on the 1-10 threat meter to tag them, I don’t know, but there have been warnings over the years about floating bombs moving in and out of ports. I had the notion that specialized facilities with big safety perimeters were the standard.

Anyhow, what is the safety assessment on LNG powered cruise ships? A fire or explosion on a cruise ship with 5,000 passengers would be ... memorable.

A lot of profit scheme....relates back to Germany being cut-off from Russian natural gas. Two major German LNG docking stations are being developed (Hamburg area).

The price they were getting for LNG in Europe also drove up the price domestically.
IF you can load a vessel and sell it to northern Europe for 10X, why would you sell it delivered to Boston/New England for 2X ?

In addition, the vessel transporting the LNG to Boston has to abide by the Jones Act. Making the transportation of the LNG more expensive per nautical mile than sending it to Europe. Domestic vessels have union crews, etc.

This caused the domestic price to spike last year. Causing Eversource(the largest electric utility in New England) to ask the Public Utilities Commission to of NH, MA to double the KWH price to their customers. Which was granted.

Suddenly, all the people in NH & MA not on a contracted rate with a secondary supplier saw their electric bills DOUBLE.
There was a lot of whining and crying on local Facebook pages here in NH. The first thing I asked these people was whether they had OPPOSED the Kinder Morgan pipeline that was supposed to go through our town? It had been defeated a couple years ago because of the NIMBY effect.
