As the second anniversary of Russia's unprovoked invasion approaches, the situation is beginning to look bleak for Ukraine.
Last year's counteroffensive brought hopes that Ukraine could capitalize on its successes in 2022 and drive back Russian forces from occupied territories in southern and eastern Ukraine.
But the offensive failed to achieve a breakthrough, and Ukraine is now seeing crucial support from its allies bleed away. Meanwhile, its troops are experiencing shortages of personnel and ammunition.
There are problems at the top, too. Its senior command has been engulfed in chaos, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy replacing Valery Zaluzhny, a senior commander, amid reported disagreements over strategy.
'It's just relentless pressure'
At the heart of Ukraine's problems is diminishing international aid. Ukraine has previously said it may not be able to successfully defend itself against Russia without US help.

Hey I know! We can send more money. That always works right? Hello? Anyone? Bueller?
Another endless unwinnable war brought to us by Democrats. But this time it’s someone else who has to fight it.
Is Russia in Kyiv? Lviv? Mykolaiv? Odessa? Kherson?
No?
Then things are going badly for RUSSIA who said they’d occupy all of these cities two years ago.
In short, Putin thinks that because he has a larger population, and more armaments, he can afford to lose more in pursuit of his objective. If Ukraine can continue to attrit the Russian forces, Putin will have a domestic political crisis. Ukraine needs to avoid losing too many troops, because it has a smaller population to replace them. This is the game being played.
They sacked the other Z. He has been replaced by “butcher” Syrskyi. Rather than evacuating Avdiivka and pulling back to more defensible lines he is concentrating his reserves to try to get a PR victory. The Ukes feel they need that to enhance the chances of more funding from DC. He will definitely live up to his reputation with this stupid and losing move.
Today I watch Episode 6, of Season 6, of The Crown. In it, Tony Blair promotes the "moral necessity" of NATO's war on Serbia.
The First Progressives War, is what Tony called it.
Excellent!
Let's get this Uke Nazi Laundromat closed down.
They never did get the Dirt out of the Machine.
“ Then things are going badly for RUSSIA”
BwaaaaaHaaaaaaa! Okay.
Hey, can I steal that from you?
It’s Tony Blair’s term.
Damn those conservative Republicans!!! If only they'd fund another $10 or $20 billion of aide, Ukraine would win!!!
We should flush the money down the toilet—at least it won’t get stolen or be used to kill people.
:-(
Must be written by one of them Putin-puffers eh?
defensible lines? I can’t, to save my own brain, figger out what the Ukes keep shooting at? They don’t seem to have the concepts of forward observers, directed fire, etc. handled. And who the heck taught them how to shoot? As best as I can tell they shoot a lot of dirt. And it should be super expensive for Ivan to be attacking “defensive” positions?
That first 30,000 rounds of 155mm that we sent was more ammo than Patton used to run Rommel’s Germans out of North Africa. Timed, overhead 155 fire can take out a platoon per shot. The Russian army should be destroyed by now. It’s getting hard to be sympathetic to the Ukes with the apparent level of displayed dumbassness? Maybe they need a better boss?
“unprovoked” my a%^....
What would it take happening to Russia to make it withdraw offensive forces and be preoccupied elsewhere instead?
Just split the damn thing at the Dnipro and call it a day. Such drama.
