Exactly. Nothing except putting these cops in jail for armed robbery will stop this insanity.

Rob and bank and then just give the money back when the FBI finds you? I don’t think so.

Re: "every [cash] dollar you have has a unique identifying number and is scanned when going through banks or casinos..."

Thanks for posting, algore.

Many USA merchants now scan all their cash, too.

Crime-related cash gets harder to use every year.

Outside the USA, however, US Dollars are still the currency of the Wild West!

Best thing he did was post his experience on You Tube where I and others saw this outrageous robbery occur. He’s lucky the right people saw it and took his case.

The problem is, they use the original reason for the stop (i.e. traffic infraction), to say, they have probable cause to detain you and investigate further. If you watch the cop shows, they say this all the time.

“It would be helpful to have more details about the arrest.”

Police originally told him it was an “education” stop for following too close the later told him it was a “drug” stop.

Correct me if I’m wrong, (Lord knows I was almost wrong once way back in ‘92), but I’ve heard the police can ask if you’d wait while they get K9 out there to “sniff’ up your vehicle.

Failure to allow this results in the cops then assuming you’re actually trying to hide something which allows the “investigation” to then proceed (warrantless entry to the vehicle).

I even watched a thingy online(?) or was it tv(?) where the “K9 handlers” can issue commands to the dog resulting in the dog “alerting” on something that isn’t there allowing them to search..

IOW, if a bad cop wants into your vehicle, they’ll get in..

The article didn’t say how much was confiscated so I did some looking around. It was $87K.

From my understanding, it has been ruled illegal to detain a person until the sniffer dog can arrive unless there is a specific, drug related reason for the suspcion. If the officer can see drugs through the windows, for example.

This story omits key information.

It is quite likely that the driver gave the officers permission to search his vehicle, or answered questions that he didn't need to.

Asset forfeiture before conviction is just Armed Robbery.
And like government immunity ought to be eliminated.

Government persons should be just as personally liable for their acts as you or I.

Can you give me examples of President Trump being disrespectful to veterans.

I served 18 years in the Navy and found out early on that a lot of veterans and active duty members do not deserve respect. Just because a person served in the armed forces does not give that person a lifetime of respect. Prime example - John McCain!

No “civil asset forfeiture” should be able to be executed without a court hearing where it is the civil authority who must prove the assets to be seized are illegal ill gotten gains, and without such proof no forfeiture permitted.

There's always a bootlicker on these threads to support government thievery. A lot less these days than there used to be though.

That’s probably what the highway cops said they gave to the DEA. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was more and managed to shrink in value between highway confiscation and the DEA money counters.

It would be interesting if the marine said it was 100k.

First, let me take issue with your statement that veterans that you don’t like don’t deserve respect.

John McCain won a silver star, two Legions of Merit with v for valor, three bronze stars with v for valor, and a purple heart. Donald Trump disrespected this man, saying he preferred pilots who weren’t shot down. What award did Donald Trump ever win to judge McCain? The only military award Trump ever won was the 4F award.

McCain is from a navy family. His father and his grandfather had been admirals in the Navy. Nobody in Donald Trump’s family ever served in the military. Not his father, nor any of his sons. If you go back to Trump’s grandfather, that guy came to this country to avoid the draft in his home country. Such people have no business questioning those who serve.

You say you served 18 years in the Navy. I don’t know anybody here in my part of the country who is a veteran and who disrespects veterans. I also don’t know anybody who served for 18 years and not 20 years so as to qualify for a pension. But, if you did serve in the Navy, thank you for your service. You certainly earned your right to speak your mind about any damn subject you choose.

I myself served during the Viet Nam era. I didn’t get to choose my war. I know from people who got shot out of the sky in that war. They’re all damn fine soldiers and damn fine Americans. None of them should be disrespected by a draft dodger.

My father served during the Korean War. He didn’t get to choose his war either. My son served during the War on Terrorism era. Guess what? He didn’t get to choose in what war he served. But, we all served honorably, and deserve respect.

If draft dodgers from the Viet Nam War period are so ashamed of their manhood, they can’t thank John McCain for his service, they should shut up. Getting shot out of the sky by an enemy SAM isn’t your fault. It’s just a bad break.

So far, Trump has been relatively well-disciplined, and has moved in front of Biden in the polls. But, last week he wasn’t so well disciplined: Questioning Nikki Haley’s husband’s absence from the campaign trail was stupid, and so was encouraging Putin to invade NATO countries that don’t meet the NATO obligation of spending 2% of GDP on the military. I guess you can say I prefer politicians who don’t shoot themselves in the foot.

Your comment hits home. I live out here in Kansas and marijuana is illegal here. But it’s completely legal in Colorado and medical marijuana is legal in Oklahoma. I have heard many times that the Kansas Highway Patrol will patrol heavily along highways from CO and OK waiting to pull over someone with KS plates, just coming back home, because they might have some “weed”. The KHP can seize the vehicle and other assets because “they were acquired via money from drug trafficking.” I’m not condoning marijuana use, I’m just stating facts.
