Sergey Antonov, the head of the Russian Committee-2024 association, has submitted a request to the Russian Investigative Committee demanding the prosecution of President Vladimir Putin for the rehabilitation of Nazism.
The request was prompted by an interview Putin gave to American journalist Tucker Carlson, in which the Russian leader commented on the events of World War II.
Antonov believes that Putin's statements represent "a denial of facts established by the judgment of the International Military Tribunal for the trial and punishment of the major war criminals of the European Axis countries, and an approval of crimes stated in said judgment."
While acknowledging that the law on the rehabilitation of Nazism is often used for politically motivated purposes, Antonov insists that the Russia President's words fall within the provision's definition. Additionally, he claims that Putin committed this crime "with aggravating circumstances," disseminating information "by using his official position" and through media outlets. Antonov's petition has been registered and is awaiting a response from the Russian Investigative Committee.
In the interview in question, Putin reportedly said that the Poles "got in over their heads and pushed Hitler to start World War II with them" as they were "intransigent."
"Hitler had no choice in carrying out his plans but to start with Poland," Putin said, apparently justifying Adolf Hitler's aggression.
Poland has reacted to Putin's statement. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski called Putin a dictator and a paranoid, noting that this is not the first time Russia has accused Poland of starting the Second World War. Warsaw is shocked that these narratives were propagated by the American journalist Tucker Carlson.
ZEEPER FOLLIES PINGLIST!

Spring is almost here and the Zeepers are swarming!
You Putin groupies need to give your homo-erotic obsession with Zelenskiyy a rest
Nope
Now YOU’RE lying
lol
—> “ homo-erotic obsession ”
Homo says what??
And put in into more context. This invasion happened about a year after Chamberlain went and signed off on the transfer of Czechoslovakian lands to Germany. The parallels are interesting because this Czech territory had a high percentage of ethnic Germans. Basically the same claim Putin makes about the Russian population of Eastern Ukraine. I am not sure why Putin mentioned Poland when actually the Munich Agreement is a much more apt parallel. Though I know Putin did try to explain it but not very clearly. He mentioned that he was open to a negotiated deal and that there was a deal in principle until UK PM Johnson scuttled it in Ankara. Putin seems to have wanted a “peace of our time” Munich type deal for Ukrainian lands.
The bottom line is Hitler considered any part of the former German Empire or Austria-Hungary to be in the German sphere of interest. The Sudetenland was just the excuse. The fact is, without the Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia lost the ability to defend herself, because the rest of the country was flat. And of course, Hitler eventually did take the rest of the country later in 1939, allowing Slovakia to break off as a Puppet State.
“Again not what he said. He said Poland worked with hitler and that hitler then betrayed them.”
Link, please. You do know — well, maybe you don’t — that Hitler demanded that Poland surrender Danzig and the extreme northwest portion of Poland to Nazi Germany, right? And that Poland told him no? And you call that “working with Hitler?” And, you do know that Hitler created the Gleiwitz Incident to “justify” his invasion, right?
Moreover, please explain why the Soviet Union JOINED Nazi Germany in the 1939 invasion of Poland. According to your illogic, the Russians must have been okay with that “betrayal” because they allied with Nazi Germany.
Why didn’t Russia ally with France and Britain, and went with Hitler instead?
Russia demanded half of Poland to make the deal with the Britain and France.
It was personal with Stalin. He was largely responsible for the Red Army losing to Poland in 1920.
Time to spray for pests.
Blaming Poland for the Nazi invasion sounds odd to western ears. On the one hand a not so veiled warning/threat against the Poles. But maybe also a Russian nationalist view justifying Stalin’s participation and rape of the eastern half of the country.
“in fact Russia took the brunt of WWII. I am so sick of you lying POS.”
Ah, you know you’ve lost the argument when you introduce the strawman. The discussion is about the 1939 invasion of Poland, in which your beloved Russians played a significant role. So, the Russians played an integral role in starting WWII.
Good catch. Skepticism is warranted in so many things.
A whois query --
Domain: uawire.orgGoing through to the article, and then to the Telegram references, one finds the "committee." It is said there of "Sergey Antonov" and the entity -- "Official channel of the Association of Russian Opposition Politicians Against the Usurpation of Power in Russia "COMMITTEE - 2024". Another whois query:
Domain: komitet-2024.orgSo the "committee" is registered through Tucows, and its identity is being protected by a company in Spain. And the site itself shows it was constructed as a WIX site. Not so Russian, after all.

As to the "Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation" it has a Russian URL, not one from Tucows with privacy provided through a Spanish company. Moreover, it provides its pages also in English, should one wish to look further.

It is very demonstrable that this is a faux bit of "news" from UAWire intended for English speakers. How would look any farther than just "face value," after all.
President Reagan advised -- trust BUT VERIFY.
Yes they have a historical connection, the territory contains a high percentage of ethnic Russians, and there is some evidence that Ukraine was neglecting or ignoring the concerns of this population. It’s gotten worse since the war with things such as outlawing the language (which is very similar so it’s bizarre) and sanctions against various churches and clergy.
But, Russia had signed a treaty ceding these lands. And this is not the first time he invaded and took Ukrainian territory in violation of the treaty. In 2014 nobody in the west cared much about the invasion. Maybe because at the time Ukraine has Russian sympathetic government. Maybe because Obama was distracted. Maybe because Hillary had her own agenda. But the parallels to WW2 are interesting since Putin is relying on the Munich Agreement in part, and also the same grievance claims Germany used for upending the Treaty of Versailles.
The parallels to 2014 also ring, as much as 1938-1939. Putin calculated that Biden was weak and had no stomach for a fight, much like when Obama flip flopped on Syria, projecting weakness; and again how Chamberlain negotiated a deal for Czech lands. But chamberlain made one deal not two. Obama made one deal, but not two. I also see, which to my dismay is nearly completely overlooked by pundits - there is a direct line between Biden/ukrainian corruption, the blackmail of the prosecutors, impeachment of Trump over the phone call… and then the invasion. I suggest Putin calculated that the corruption might work to his advantage politically in the west - but the western media has buried all that.
“The discussion is about the 1939 invasion of Poland, in which your beloved Russians played a significant role. So, the Russians played an integral role in starting WWII.”
Exactly. And Russia benefited from their hostilities at Yalta when Churchill and FDR gifted Eastern Europe to Stalin and his merry band of looters and rapists.
Despite constant claims by Putin and his supporters, Donbas has a majority ethnic Ukrainian population, not Russian — approximately 60/40. Kherson and Zaporizhzhia (the so-called land bridge to Crimea) are overwhelmingly Ukrainian — 82% and 71% respectively. Additionally, this story of a genocide against Russians in Donbas is a complete fabrication. As for claims of historical connection, Poland also had historical connections. But today none of this matters. Ukraine is an independent country and Russia needs to respect this fact. If you are looking for lies, look at Putin.
“And Ukraine was executing a political genocide on a Russian population, Putin stepped in to stop it.”
Oh, BS. A civil war (which Russia fomented) in eastern Ukraine that took the lives of some 14,000 people TOTAL, on BOTH sides, in eight years; among whom the vast majority (some 10,000 people) were actual combatants; can hardly be called genocide.
But, do you want to talk about mass murder? Then let’s talk about the pro-Russia separatists who shot down a civilian airliner (MH-17) killing all on board (some 300 persons), using a ground-to-air missile battery provided by Russia, and whose crew was trained in its use by Russia.
And, do you know whose playbook Putin was following when he invaded Ukraine? Yup; Hitler’s. Think: Czechoslovakia (1938); Poland (1939).
It’s telling that you stand up for Putin, who is an apologist for Nazi Germany.
There was no “peace deal” to be scuttled. That has been addressed many times here on FR.
If there was such a peace deal, how come it has never been published? I mean, something so important would have been published, right? Hell, not even Putin has published it. Why? Because it never existed.
