Recall in September, Canadian MP’s gave a standing ovation to a prominent Nazi during a Zelensky visit to Ottawa. As Jihad Watch reported at the time:
A Nazi, introduced as a “war hero” who fought during World War II against the Soviet Union for the First Ukrainian Division, was honored in Canada’s House of Commons during Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Parliament. Yaroslav Hunka was given a big round of applause by Canada’s MP’s. The Associated Press reported that “Zelenskyy raised his fist in acknowledgement as Hunka saluted from the gallery during two separate standing ovations.”
“The First Ukrainian Division was also known as the Waffen-SS Galicia Division or the SS 14th Waffen Division, a voluntary unit that was under the command of the Nazis.”
The incident caused a furor across the country and far beyond. Even Vladimir Putin mentioned it in his interview with Tucker Carlson (@59 minutes in). Once certainly does not need to be a Putin supporter to recognize the sheer expanse to how Canada was represented globally in Parliament, even in front of Western enemies everywhere. The fallout from the gross sight of Canada’s parliament rising to a renowned Nazi forced the Trudeau government into full damage control mode to distance itself from embarrassment. The whole incident was blamed on House Speaker Anthony Rota, and presented that neither Trudeau nor his government knew of Hunka’s history. According to Fox News at the time: the “Speaker of the House has apologized and accepted full responsibility for issuing the invitation and for the recognition in Parliament.” Now comes news that AGAIN, Trudeau lied, as has become habitual. The Prime Minister’s Office fully knew and in fact, Trudeau invited Hunka to his private reception. According to a Globe and Mail report:
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invited Yaroslav Hunka, the Ukrainian Waffen-SS veteran who received two ovations in the House of Commons during a visit by Volodymyr Zelensky, to a reception he hosted in the Ukrainian President’s honour the same day…..The 98-year-old SS veteran’s ovations in the House of Commons in September sparked an outcry and led to the resignation of Anthony Rota after the Speaker pointed him out in the gallery, and paid tribute to him saying he was a Canadian and Ukrainian hero.
Mr. Rota was sharply criticized by MPs of all stripes for inviting Mr. Hunka, a constituent, and not vetting him properly. After sustained criticism and calls to resign, Mr. Rota stepped down, apologizing to the Jewish community and expressing “profound regret” for his error.
Rota took the fall for Justin Trudeau, as many suspected in the first place and now knows. Even the World Socialist Website reported “Canada’s prime minister invited Nazi war criminal Hunka to exclusive reception for Ukrainian president”.
While Trudeau was being questioned by the Opposition Conservatives, he remained unrepentant….
“Will he hold himself to the very same standard and admit that he’s not fit for office?” Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre asked during question period.
Trudeau then tried to deflect responsibility by accusing the Conservative Party of abandoning Ukraine…..
“The attacks that the leader of the Opposition is choosing to make against the Ukrainian Canadian Congress demonstrates the extent to which this Conservative Party no longer stands with Ukraine.”
Just over two weeks ago, Canada’s Federal Court found that Trudeau’s invocation of the Emergencies Act against the Freedom Convoy violated Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It was exposed that Trudeau had lied about police requesting that he invoke the Act. It was revealed that the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) warned the Trudeau government that the threshold had not been met to invoke the Emergency Measures Act, but Trudeau went ahead and invoked it anyway.
Canada is under siege by a government with totalitarian tendencies, and which lies and deflects when it is convenient to do so in the face of scandal. This government has also sunk Canada’s economy.
Trudeau’s Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, who infamously froze the bank accounts of Freedom Convoy protesters and those supporting them, likely knew about her boss’s warm invitation to Hunka, and covered it up. She, too, distanced herself from the scandal. The Toronto Star reported at the time that Freeland acknowledged publicly “a truth at the heart of the controversy over a Ukrainian war veteran’s visit to Parliament.” That “truth” was that “none of the MPs present realized they were applauding someone who had fought with the Nazis, and their ignorance is a factor in the pain the incident has caused.” Likely most of the MP’s did not know, but anyone could reason — even before the latest revelation — that someone must have known other than the House Speaker. Freeland’s own personal background is also highly questionable. Consider a report by the Ottawa Citizen which was published in 2017: ‘Chrystia Freeland’s granddad was indeed a Nazi collaborator – so much for Russian disinformation. The Globe and Mail stated:
Ms. Freeland, who has paid tribute to her maternal grandparents in articles and books, helped edit a scholarly article in the Journal of Ukrainian Studies in 1996 that revealed her grandfather, Michael Chomiak, was a Nazi propagandist for Krakivski Visti (Krakow News).
The Globe article went on to state: “Ms. Freeland has never acknowledged that her grandfather was a Nazi collaborator and suggested on Monday that the allegation was part of a Russian disinformation campaign.”
It’s one disastrous scandal after another with the Trudeau government, which will undoubtedly continue to lie, manipulate and bribe Canadians with even more spending when election time rolls around. Ditto for its “selected” media.
Neither Trudeau nor his government knew how to use a search engine which is normal for the left
Someday ...sooner rather than later..the identifier “nazi” will be replaced with “democrat” as the world’s worst moniker.
Trudeau seems to be another Hitler, except with a prettier face. Why else invite a HERE from Hitler’s day? Sure glad that I’m not associated with that country!
He doesn’t care. He’s virtually a dictator, with the support of the liberal population and members of parliament.
Someday ...sooner rather than later..the identifier “nazi” will be replaced with “democrat” as the world’s worst moniker
But for now, it’s “conservative”.
Yep, Cannuck Nazi PM Justine (Castreau) Trudeau personally invited a top notch Nazi to be Glorified by the Canuckistan Parliament in Nazi Canada.
It would be helpful to know more details of this person’s history before branding him a Nazi. Given that Ukraine lost millions of people to Soviet terror and engineered famine between 1920 and 1940, it is not surprising that the German invasion was welcomed by some. They had to pick a side. Nazi’s or Reds? If this person was complicit in the murder of Jews then calling him a Nazi is fair. If he just hated Russians it is not.
They knew. Canada took in a number of refugees from the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division. It’s been a minor issue there for a number of years.
What I would like to know is, how did this guy escape the Jewish Nazi hunters for so many years…
Nazi’s will be Nazi’s- Ukies, Canada, they have infiltrated their governments long ago.
He was an 18 year old SS volunteer. Doubt there would be evidence against him individually other than voluntary service in the SS. Which would keep him out of the US. The 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS fought against the Red Army and partisans. They’re implicated in war crimes, but mostly against civilians in areas of partisan activity. Interestingly both Russia and Poland are now investigating and his attendance is causing some embarrassment in Canada. Particularly over a memorial to veterans of the 14th SS Division. No way Trudeau didn’t know what he was doing.
Thanks!
The current Ukrainian army, Azov Battalions, are all Nazis, as is Zelenski.
The Azov’s were committing genocide in the Donetsk on the Russian speaking peoples.
Have the big cities who keep electing him, finally had enough of him to vote him out?
