The Vietnam War showed the US the need for the F-16 and F-15. The Top Gun School was started because of the deficiencies in fighter pilot training. Lots of lessons in Vietnam made the US military better
It also enabled led to an all-volunteer military. An all-volunteer military is vastly superior to one based on conscription.
And the OV-10A, the A-10, the F-18, AMRAAM, HUD’s, Fire control radars, the F-4G Wild Weasel...on and on and on
