A sheriff imposing his own fines and penalties and taking property without due process is an abuse of the system of justice.

One could argue that the cars are evidence, and must be held through the trial.

You think about it the next time your car is seized and impounded as “evidence” after you are ticketed for a minor traffic violation like driving 3 MPH over the speed limit.
