For years, Republicans have attacked Biden for his age and perceived mental acuity.
Those critiques only got louder on Thursday after a special counsel report implied he was forgetful.
Some Democrats also previously complained about his age, but the party has no alternatives now.
While US special counsel Robert Hur's report Thursday afternoon about President Joe Biden's mishandling of confidential documents didn't recommend charging him with any crimes, pundits and politicians have focused on how it describes the 81-year-old president: elderly and forgetful.
With less than a year until election day, the Democratic Party has no apparent backup plan if it decides to part with its endorsed candidate.
Choosing a candidate to run against or replace Biden would also likely be a tremendously messy process: Would the party want to go with its current vice president, Kamala Harris, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, or some other dark horse candidate? Who within the party would ultimately make that decision? What happens to all of the Biden campaign's funding?
The Democratic Party doesn't have the luxury of time to figure it out, either: The primary election season has already begun across the nation, and it's far too late for many states to add new names to their ballots per local election laws.

It really doesn’t matter. The Democrat Party’s Central Committee runs the Executive Branch anyway. No matter who is “President”
Sure they do. I believe the plan is to keep Biden in office until the convention and then nominate the candidate that they think can win. That way, Harris is out of the picture totally, and the DNC leadership can pick who they want, while screwing their voters. Maybe all this ‘reveal’ of Biden at this time is to prepare for that fateful day. This scenario would be the cleanest and least painful for them.
I’m sure H->! would give it a go.

Oh, the Delusional Lying Democrats and Left have lot of options...
I really think it’s going to be The Mooch.
“... it’s far too late for many states to add new names to their ballots per local election laws.”
Nah. She doesn't have ambition unlike Hillary. She appears to be having fun in her "retirement" and I don't blame her.
“I really think it’s going to be The Mooch.”
I do not think so as the job will most likely require some real work. I think she is past that point in her life.

I don’t think it matters. Many Americans have been conditioned to believe voting Dem proves their virtue, while voting Republican is the same as voting for Nazis.
I agree the convention (or just before the convention) move is their least bad option—but they may have to “get rid” of the guy permanently to make that happen.
They could go the fake “died by natural causes” route or the more dramatic fake white supremacist assassin route.
That would free up all delegates to obey their plutocrat masters—as in 1968 (where Humphrey won no primaries).
However my reading of history is that the Deep State does not get radical like that except as a last resort. If they think they can somehow steal the November election with Biden they they would prefer that option.
Nah. That won't work.
Kamala Harris is next in line.
Newsom perhaps but Whitmer might be a safer bet.
One thing is for certain. It will not be Biden. The Special Counsel report was a fatal blow so enjoy the fun while it lasts. This will have turned out to be a gift for the Democrats forcing a much younger, stronger candidate on the ticket.
bttt
They have no one qualified?! That is what happens when your caucus is filled with looneytoon extremists and elderly cold war wannbe oligarchs.
And then there is Trump.
I am glad I am not a democrat.
If whomever they pick “wins”, especially under suspicious circumstances, this is essentially the death of the Republic.
It’s the equivalent of Caesar being given the power of appointment to the Roman senate, thus becoming a dictator.
Yes, it is too late.
That's why they're keeping Joe.
No debates this time though. I think we've seem how much Joe has declined in the past four years. Back then, he could handle a debate. But now, it's out of question.
