Democrat insiders say it is now 'PANIC TIME' and party should DUMP Joe Biden, 81, at its summer convention with Gavin Newsom 'waiting in the wings' after Justice Department said president had 'diminished faculties'

Democrat insiders say it is now 'panic time' after a blockbuster Justice Department report concluded Joe Biden has 'diminished faculties' and is an 'elderly man with a poor memory'.

Increasingly, behind the scenes, a nuclear option is being considered to remove the 81-year-old president as the Democrat nominee at the party's convention in Chicago in August.

The leading candidates to replace him include California Governor Gavin Newsom and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

'I think it is now panic time. Biden should not be our standard bearer,' a former senior Democrat White House official, who worked with Biden, told Dailymail.com.

'He looked like a deer stuck in the headlights last night. There isn't enough gas in the tank for another four and-a-half years. Ultimately we're going to see more more prominent Democrats saying the quiet part out loud.

'It's increasingly clear we have a deeply flawed candidate. Democracy is in the balance and this is not a smart path for our party.'

What did they do when LBJ dropped out?

In the LBJ case very few delegates had been chosen.

The few LBJ candidates were free.

RFK won a bunch of delegates in primaries.

Then he was assassinated.

That freed up a whole bunch more delegates.

Then the convention picked Humphrey.

Humphrey had not run in any primaries.

LBJ dropped out after New Hampshire. Eugene McCarthy was already running, and Bobby Kennedy had entered the race. Primaries weren’t as important then, and Hubert Humphrey was able to get enough delegates to win the nomination without entering any primaries.

Biden may go all the way through the primaries — nobody’s really running against him and the party machine supports him — and then let the convention pick his successor. If he lasts longer than that, the Democratic National Committee will have to pick a candidate.

I thought Biden was going to speak to the country tonight, and that he might step down. But that TV address story actually was about last night and the disastrous press conference. Now it looks like he won’t go willingly and would have to be forced out.

The rules are weird and complicated. But one thing is for sure. If Biden drops out, Harris would not automatically get his convention delegates. And that’s because in the primaries the candidates run individually, not as a team.

So Harris would on her own. She could hope that delegate free agents vote for her as the Democrat presidential nominee. Or she could hope the new nominee picks her for VP.

That’s my understanding of the process, anyway.

“It’ increasingly clear we have a deeply flawed candidate”.

It was INCREDIBLY CLEAR the democrats had a deeply criminal, corrupt, stupid, lying, pedophile candidate over 40 years ago!

Even Hillary knew better than to think she could run for President simply by being a former First Lady which is exactly why she needed to use the springboard of a senate seat.
Better keep “Mikes” dance on the Ellen show on hot standby just in case.

Just more on 1968—if RFK had lived he would almost certainly would have been the Democratic nominee after winning the CA primary—and probably would have defeated the charisma challenged Nixon.

Crazy as it sounds—the only actual historical precedent we have for resolving the current situation is.....

Deep State assassination.

I would not rule it out—probably one of those nice folks in the white coats that have taken an oath to “do no harm”.

What everybody forgets about government employees—they are not very creative.

They tend to stick to the tried and true....

Imagine them replaying the phony kidnapping gambit.

Democrats have no shame—the bigger the lie the better.

In my opinion the Dems will dump Biden if they know he cannot win. That said, anyone who replaces him on the ballot has very little chance of winning either.
Panic time is surely correct.

For the times, the are a changin’

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin’
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’
