Senate to Vote on Ukraine, Israel After Border Measure Fails (Schumer Wants Vote Held Tomorrow!)

WASHINGTON—Senate Democrats tried Wednesday to pin down more GOP support for a bill that would provide military aid to Ukraine, Israel and other allies, after Republicans blocked a broader legislative package that linked the foreign assistance to policy changes at the southern border.

The broader measure was the product of four months of bipartisan negotiations, but Republicans had made clear earlier this week that it had no path forward. With 49 in favor and 50 opposed, it fell short Wednesday of the 60 votes required to advance. GOP lawmakers initially had demanded border changes as a condition for Ukraine aid, but they later balked, saying the negotiated terms regarding migrants weren’t tough enough.

With the broader measure dead, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) moved to schedule a procedural vote to advance a narrower, $95.3 billion version of the package that would fund Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan but exclude border-security provisions. Democrats worked for several hours to guarantee enough Republican support, with Schumer ultimately saying they would hold the vote Thursday.

“We will recess until tomorrow and give our Republican colleagues the night to figure themselves out,” he said.

All four issues should be their own standalone bills.

The fact that the “ democrats “ are so universally attached to Ukraine should tell you all you need to know.

The Turtle and Lindsey too.

Both houses have committed to giving $17billion to Israel. Why can’t they get that done?

Ukraine’s regime has Tucker Carlson on its official kill list.

So GOPers that vote to fund said regime as far as I am concerned are pure scum.

“..universally attached..”

The Ukraine is the official “U.S. Congressional Laundromat” where our hard-earned tax dollars go in, get sloshed around some, then come out in the private offshore accounts of dubious individuals that dwell in District of Corruption.

They’re in a BIG HURRY to get their Gravy Train to Ukraine going, as Russia has greatly ramped up their operations, and taking land faster than any time since early in the war.

But even so, it won’t matter - the West simply DOES NOT have the weapons, nor the capability to quickly produce the weapons, that Ukraine needs...which is why Russia was able to step up the tempo.

Yep, mixing unrelated topics together in a bill and making it so lengthy that there isn’t much time to debate any of it is a Uniparty tradition.

And Congress wonders why its approval rating is 13%.

I’m sure glad his buddy Songbird bit the dust.

I’m sure glad I don’t have to hear his arrogant, neocon mouth lecturing me on why I should be happy to be sending my tax dollars to secure a corrupt hellhole’s borders to the neglect of my country’s.

GIVING?

I’m tired of giving. I’d send Israel weapons IF they paid for them.

And how about we take care of OUR border first?

Hey it’s not like we’re $34 trillion in debt or anything. Just keep digging that debt hole bigger assholes. Borrow more to give away to foreign countries. What givers we are.

“Both houses have committed to giving $17billion to Israel. Why can’t they get that done?”

If Israel is seen to be dependent on US government money US Muslims will act up far more than they have.

Muslims worldwide need to be made to understand that the existence of Israel in its 1967 borders must be accepted. Giving Israel billions causes Muslims to think that is not so.

As with ‘migrants’, what seems to be a good deed is not. The US does not need more unskilled adults.

The REQUIREMENT was the southern border is closed or none of this funding passes.

Period. This was said over and over.

The Border portion of the bill did not close the Border. It was insufficient.

Therefore the whole package fails, and must stay failed until the Border is closed.

Don’t have this be a debate about separation. The requirement was it must be attached.

Carlson isn’t that well-protected. If Joe Schmoe decided to do it, he’d be dead. Ukraine has plenty of special operators able to infiltrate and destroy well-protected targets hundreds of miles inside Russia. If Kiev wanted him dead, he’d have been killed years ago.

Democrats are in complete control when they have the majority, so Schumer knows he has the votes, otherwise it would not be brought to the floor.
