Kyrie Irving made a bizarre revelation in his return to Brooklyn on Tuesday night, when frustrated fans sitting courtside questioned why the Dallas Mavericks guard did not perform at the same level while still playing for the Nets last season.
His response was New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
Irving dropped 36 points in the Mavericks’ 119-107 win over the Nets, which prompted some fans to ask, “Kyrie, why didn’t you play like this when you were on the Nets?”
A viral video circulating on social media captured Irving’s blunt response.
“Thank Mayor Adams for that, bro.”

I get his point. I’d be much happier and would play better in Dallas anyday over New York City.
A tyrant mayor can cause one’s blood pressure to increase. And we all know that 80% of making shots is half mental.
This is practically the only time I agree with Kyrie Irving on anything.
Not only did Irving refuse, which meant he couldn't play home games, he bought his own spectator tickets and sat right behind his teammates on the sidelines. The illegal mandate meant he'd have to get the Jim Jones Jab to wear his uniform and step forward two feet. Clearly it was not about health or safety.
Taking a player out for home games during the season for nothing but political tyranny and ignorance is absolutely on Token Adams.
Kyrie
that’s an awesome name. Way better Laquinte.
It’s Greek, meaning “Lord.” It’s from the Bible.
Assuming its a praise, not a claim.
