Senate’s Long-Awaited Border Bill Released: Allocates $60 Billion to Ukraine But Only $20 Billion for U.S. Border Security

However, there is solid evidence that some people are being blackmailed when it comes to their vote in the House and Senate.

With all due respect, even thinking that, going forward, the political system could possibly function to reverse the trajectory our country is now on is naive in the extreme. That's what people of your ilk don't get.

We're past the point of, um, peaceful political resolution of our current problems. Well past. We're not voting ourselves out of this situation. Anyone who's still thinking "Republicans v. Democrats," "elections," "muh Constitution," "the rule of law," or whatever other political panacea they might embrace, has already lost the plot.

What's happening is happening because the people in power want it to be happening. And the people in power aren't going to be surrendering that power peaceably. One needs to come to grips with that reality and then decide for themselves the way forward.

I seem to remember something more like $5 billion, and at the time, I couldn’t believe that Pelousy and others were claiming we couldn’t afford it. But whether it was $5 billion or $20 billion, it’s still peanuts compared to how much those criminals in Congress blow on utterly useless stuff every year. The claim that “it’s too expensive” is absurd.
