The head of the Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, also said that the “sanitary zone” would have to be free of weapons reaching the territory “that Russia considers its own.” According to the deputy, the General Staff should “form a concept and report to the president” on the creation of such a zone. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev mentioned back in March that the “sanitary strip” in Ukraine would not allow the Armed Forces of Ukraine to use weapons at medium and short distances of 70-100 km. But already this week [June 14], in his Telegram channel, Medvedev said that, taking into account the decision of the West to supply Kiev with long-range weapons, the line of the demilitarized “sanitary zone” should run “along the borders of Lvov (Polish Lemberg) in order to play a real defensive role. “Then they will be the new secure borders of what used to be called the ‘404 country,'” he wrote.
Source: https://t.me/ June 14, 2023. In the second paragraph, Medvedev said: “If we proceed from the proven complicity of Western countries in undermining the Nord Stream [pipelines], then not even moral restrictions are left for us to refrain from destroying the cable communication of our enemies laid on the ocean floor.” “It is more accurate to use the term “buffer zone”. Having taken control of this zone, in the outcome we are unlikely to give it to Ukraine,” says Alexander Perendzhiev, Associate Professor of the Department of Political Analysis and Socio–Psychological Processes at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, and a member of the expert council of “Officers of Russia”. “If Ukraine continues to shoot, the process of advancing Russian troops to the west may be endless,” he added. According to this expert, the “sanitary cordon” could now become the Dnieper River. “Remember the Great Stand on the Ugra in 1480. This event is considered the completion of the overthrow of the Mongol-Tatar yoke in Russia. Now we can also assume that the liberation of the southern underbelly in the form of Odessa, Nikolaev, and up to the border with Transnistria will take place,” Perendzhiev suggested. But there are other opinions, too. “If such a zone is created, it will run from the Bug to the Vistula, but not along the Dnieper line, because many supporters of Russia, Russians, live in Kiev. This is traditionally our land, which was part of the Russian Empire, the USSR. Therefore, we have every right to talk about a security line on territories fundamentally different from the territories historically belonging to Russia. Russia’s geopolitical interests extend much further than the Dnieper line,” said Oleg Ivannikov, a military political scientist and lieutenant colonel (reserve) at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to Ivannikov, today the number one task is the denazification of the Kiev regime. Therefore, when there are fundamental political changes in the Ukrainian statehood, “the very question of creating buffer zones would become irrelevant.” “We are not talking about the firing of tanks, mortars, large-calibre artillery at our territories. Western artillery systems have the ability to hit targets at a distance of up to 40 kilometres. The fact that such a zone should be near Donetsk and further from the DPR border is unequivocal. And also in the LPR, in the Kherson region and in Zaporozhye – where there is still fighting. Of course, we are talking about the Belgorod region and the Bryansk region, which borders with the Sumy and Chernigov regions,” said Vasily Dandykin, captain of the 1st rank, deputy editor–in-chief of the Warrior of Russia magazine. He recalled that Russia already has experience in creating a buffer zone in Afghanistan. “When the 40th Combined Arms Army was there, which was part of a limited contingent of Soviet troops, the “sanitary zone” was provided by the border troops of the USSR. They had maneuverable groups that did not allow the mujahideen to enter the rear of our group on the territory for tens of kilometers,” the expert said. According to Dandykin, the size of the “sanitary cordon” depends on what range of weapons the enemy will have. “If these are long-range cruise missiles, then a zone of 40 kilometres does not make sense. Now Ukraine has HIMARS MLRS [multiple launch rocket systems] with missiles with a flight range of up to 80 kilometres. The Americans can supply missiles with a range of up to 200 kilometres,” Dandykin said.

From the beginning of the AFU counteroffensive, the enemy began to attack during the day, although he had previously practised mainly sorties at night. “The attacks are carried out by drones, Grom-2 missile — they are trying to probe the Crimea and not only there. They have already fired British Storm Shadow missiles at Lugansk, which is hundreds of kilometres from the front line. If they act like inveterate terrorists, then it is necessary to create a “sanitary cordon”,emphasizes the captain of the 1st rank.
Be sure to see the maps, the Ukie War cheerleaders aren’t going to like it, BlackRock and others that have bought up huge chunks of Ukie farmland will not like it either….
More recently: “ Following the recording of this podcast, Russian state media reported President Vladimir Putin as describing the depth of the demilitarized zone which the Russian offensive will establish in the Ukraine. “ ‘This [demilitarized] line should … lie at such a distance from our territory that it would ensure the security [of Russian cities],’ the president said on Wednesday, adding that he was specifically referring to protection from ‘foreign-made longer-range weapons that the Ukrainian authorities use to strike peaceful cities.’….

IATAN
Gotta LOVE how the Neocon policy of giving longer and longer range weapons to Ukraine has TOTALLY BACKFIRED.
Hopefully that bunch will be discredited enough to get them out of power before they manage to start World War 3.
Are they on their fourth army, now?

freeper Owen's analysis:
Putin did not commit serious force totals to Ukraine for this de-nazification/de-militarization effort. This is very clear in the context of the enormous Reserves numbers, untapped.
My guess is there has been superb analysis among the senior officers of the Army. They know there will be political NATO battles over funding Ukraine. They also knew they needed a strategy that would not depend on those battles/decisions about funding and supply.
If you view things from that perspective, it seems clear the resource NATO cannot supply is troops. So Putin must have been persuaded by his military that 300K sufficed to generate very large kill ratios via enormous artillery ammunition quantities. Ukraine would run out of troops.
As for NATO arraying an expeditionary force because the NATO folks are not stupid and can now see this Russian strategy, that is a big step. The risks are many, but I would guess the primary risk is having NATO casualties accumulate and further erode support for funding.
Hungary and Romania are gonna get their share of the Ukraine pie...
Once Poland sees that, Lwów is gone.
Fair is fair. . . . The sanitary zone should apply to Moscow as well. Remove all Muskovite missiles, artillery, troops, logistics, everything, to an equal distance.
But of course they’ll cheat. They can’t help it. Like scorpion, it’s in their nature.
You think the globohomo screwing of America is bad? The Russians were more than happy to live in peace under the Minsk Agreement. This, and an end to the incredibly destabilizing Uke NATO crazy talk. Nope, the globohomos in DC shot it down. Now Ukraine is ruins, hundreds of thousands dead, 12 million have left the country. Bear the Minsk terms in mind when the final borders are imposed by the Russians.
The text of the protocol consists of twelve points:[13]
To ensure an immediate bilateral ceasefire.
To ensure the monitoring and verification of the ceasefire by the OSCE.
Decentralisation of power, including through the adoption of the Ukrainian law “On temporary Order of Local Self-Governance in Particular Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts”.
To ensure the permanent monitoring of the Ukrainian-Russian border and verification by the OSCE with the creation of security zones in the border regions of Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
Immediate release of all hostages and illegally detained persons.
A law preventing the prosecution and punishment of people in connection with the events that have taken place in some areas of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts.
To continue the inclusive national dialogue.
To take measures to improve the humanitarian situation in Donbas.
To ensure early local elections in accordance with the Ukrainian law “On temporary Order of Local Self-Governance in Particular Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts”.
To withdraw illegal armed groups and military equipment as well as fighters and mercenaries from the territory of Ukraine.
To adopt a programme of economic recovery and reconstruction for the Donbas region.
To provide personal security for participants in the consultations.

“Once Poland sees that, Lwów is gone.”
It’s the just thing to do, return the stolen lands; Lwów, Trans-Carpathia, Crimea, and Northern Bukovina.
And Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine would have been happy to live in peace
Except, Russia wanted to attack & invade
Russia is the problem, you keep missing that crucial point
Who attacked who? Your buddy Putin started this and wants to take over Ukraine and kill as many as possible. How can the war be Ukraine’s fault?
“Fair is fair. . . . The sanitary zone should apply to Moscow as well.”
I guess the Neocons can try, but the last two times it was tried, it didn’t end very well!
“Your buddy Putin started this and wants to take over Ukraine and kill as many as possible.”
Link please.
And no, I didn’t blame Ukraine for the war - just like a dozen or so other wars, it was a NEOCON project.
“Hungary and Romania are gonna get their share of the Ukraine pie...Once Poland sees that, Lwów is gone.”
Clearly it will that way, hopefully without the Neocons going nuclear first.
“But of course they’ll cheat. They can’t help it. Like scorpion, it’s in their nature.”
Ah, the excuses begin. I’m seeing more of this. A very good sign for an end coming soon.
Remember how terrifying the Comintern was? The CIA has overthrown governments over 80 documented times, including the USA, Ukraine, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Lebanon. Your big guy stands at the Russian border and screams forced regime change for Moscow NOW. The thuggery that NATO used this week to extort billions from Hungary and Orban was classic Brezhnev Doctrine. You want to talk about Quisling governments? The globohomos in DC order the destruction of Nordstream. That US action helped to collapse German industry. And our satrap in Berlin doesn’t say a word. The Russians are dealing with this on their border, a days tank ride from Moscow. You neocons go 7000 miles to go on a 15 year brutal rampage that kills a million, mostly innocent Arabs, destroys multiple countries, kills 15,000 American boys, wastes trillions to protect the world from Saddam’s yellow cake and because the SAUDIS attacked us 9/11. Yeah, the Russians are the problem.
More paranoid nonsense
yes, Russia is the problem, glad you agree
LOL I really laughed out loud at that one.
Your buddies can't even reach the left bank of the Dnipro outside Kherson. The only thing "moving westward" is the continuous deposition of Russian corpses and destroyed armor at the current lines.
I expect the Ukes to file a chemical warfare complaint come spring regarding the impossible stench of rotting Russians along the front.
It is far too late for “soon”, we are 2 weeks from the 2 year mark of what has turned out to be a very long and deadly war for Russia.
