The U.S. government has raised its travel alert level for Jamaica amid a spate of murders in the Caribbean nation, urging Americans to reconsider visiting the island "due to crime and [unreliable] medical services."
The State Department announced the change, to its Level 3 travel advisory, for Jamaica just a few days after it issued a warning about the Bahamas, which remained at a Level 2 advisory, urging Americans to "exercise increased caution," despite a series of murders there.

It must be getting bad there when even the resorts are not safe.

Jamaica. I have never felt safe in Jamaica.
Lots of Florida cruises end up in these places. Good way to hurt Florida and those anti-biden ones.
Cruises have been selling out and going way up in price in the past few months. Also no TV ads for cruise lines anymore. No $$$ spent on TV buys.
So media will play up big this crime story to ‘hurt’ the cruise lines. When sales go down, media will say ‘gotta advertise on TV.
Corruption is a vicious circle everywhere in a god-less world.

They did in the past. It was always recommended to stay inside the resort & not venture off the grounds, especially at night. But sounds like the resorts are getting iffy. I read a few months ago that resort workers weren’t to be trusted anymore. They’ve been accused in some of the crimes.
TV ads are largely big pharma, that’s why no MSM will cover covid plandemic honestly. Same corruption applying here too.
I would think if you stay within a tour group, you’d be okay. They’re probably warning people not to venture off on their own.

Jamaica, beautiful geographically. But, has long been the ghetto of the Caribbean. Surpassed in that regard only by Haiti.
There were commercials ads during the football games last weekend. both Carnival and Princess. We cruise frequently and noticed the uptick in ads. Just my observation.
The reported homicide rate described for Jamaica is about the same as the rate for Chicago in the summer, i.e. corrected for weather.
Jamaica is described as having 65 homicides in January (which is warm in Jamaica), and a population of 2.8 million. 2.3 per 100k.
Chicago has about 2.6 million people, and had a (lower than previous years) 59 known murders in July 2023. Rounds up to 2.3 per 100k.
