The article identified them as reservists? Is that something the Army normally does placing reservists is hot zones.

I read elsewhere that a good number of the injured are Arizona National Guard, there to provide security and law enforcement.

My question is why are National Guard troops serving in these forward positions?

I just heard 300 Illinois National Guard are being deployed to Middle East. Not enough active duty? I tbought Guard was sorf of a last resort after reserve. Dirty rotten shame. We are in a world of hurt.

Nope. They were Army Reserve. Engineers. 718th Engineering Company out of Benning....excuse me Moore.
