American-led negotiators are edging closer to an agreement in which Israel would suspend its war in Gaza for about two months in exchange for the release of more than 100 hostages still held by Hamas, a deal that could be sealed in the next two weeks and would transform the conflict consuming the region.
Negotiators have developed a written draft agreement merging proposals offered by Israel and Hamas in the last 10 days into a basic framework that will be the subject of talks in Paris on Sunday. While there are still important disagreements to be worked out, negotiators are cautiously optimistic that a final accord is within reach, according to U.S. officials who insisted on anonymity to discuss sensitive talks....
The deal now coming together would be more expansive in scope than the previous one, officials say. In the first phase, fighting would stop for about 30 days while women, elderly and wounded hostages were released by Hamas. During that period, the two sides would work out details of a second phase that would suspend military operations for roughly another 30 days in exchange for Israeli soldiers and male civilians being held. The ratio of Palestinians to be released from Israeli prisons is still to be negotiated but that is viewed as a solvable issue. The deal would also allow for more humanitarian aid into Gaza.
While the agreement would not be the permanent cease-fire that Hamas has demanded for the release of all hostages, officials close to the talks believe that if Israel halts the war for two months, it would likely not resume it in the same way that it has waged it until now. The truce would provide a window for further diplomacy that could lead to a broader resolution of the conflict.

Baloney. Babylon on the Potomac is doing whatever it can to support their Hamas buddies to stop Pali-terroist protesters against Dems.
It’s doubtful the hostages are alive. And the goal is to stop the attack and make it impossible to start up again.
The main question is why?
WHY does DC want to stop the fighting? In Ukraine they want to keep it going. But in Gaza they flip out and go all in to try to stop the shooting.

Men last. And as Bill Burr pointed out, and THAT ladies, is why men get the extra two dollars an hour in the workplace.
I don’t think this deal favors Israel. I think it’s just another “deal” to tie Israel’s hands while the muzzlimes get an opportunity to regroup and rearm. It would also provide a large incentive to kidnap more Israelis as bargaining chips. No, unfortunately, Israel has to wipe out Hamas and every single Gazan with unfettered hands.
I hope Israel ignores these “American negotiators”.

Hamas will want all of them released, so it’s a non starter. Two months would give Hamas a nice regrouping period.
Why does it take 30 days to release 100 hostages? That could be accomplished in one day and should be done on day one.
How long after day 29 is Israel supposed to wait before continuing the fumigation project?
I would hope the IDF would still be on site to arrest every rat that tries to exit the tunnels or tries to resupply the tunnels.

What about the Israeli soldiers that are women and that Hamas has previously made clear they wish to keep?

Isreal should bate and switch. Ink the deal to get all hostages back, then renig on the rest and go scorched earth on what’s left of gaza.

3 months - after the first 60, there would be another 30. How many tunnels and rocket manufacturing plants can they build in 90 days?
