“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”
― George Orwell, 1984
SERVPRO history. Like it never happened.
What is bronze worth?
Looks to me like it was cut rather than broken off.
Similar to the removal of the Hans Christian Heg statue outside the Wisconsin Capital during the George Floyd protests in 2020. Only without the deep set stupidity (Heg was an abolitionist, volunteered for duty in the civil war, died in the Battle at Chickamauga and yet the protestors tore down the statue dragged it to Lake Monona and threw it in. It was recovered, reassembled and re-dedicated recently.)
I've read elsewhere about $2/lb which would make that statue worth about $500 in bronze alone. Of course, I'm sure the thieves had to take a hit because it was obviously stolen.
They probably only got some drugs out of it.
Bronze is very expensive right now as are all red metals. That statue is in the thousands in scrap once it’s melted down.
bttt
Idiots. Thieving idiots.
I blame the scrap yard for taking the Jackie Robinson Statue.
Our parish had a bronze statue of Junipero Serra stolen, apparently because of the metal value.
You can see the thieves working it in the video to get the metal to break and can see from the shiny metal on the remaining portion that the metal was broken, not cut.
“Heg was an abolitionist, volunteered for duty in the civil war, died in the Battle at Chickamauga”
No good deed goes unpunished.
The metal is just too much of a target for thieves in our hyper-inflated financial system.
You are no fun at all.
Wire them up Clockwork Orange style and give some major electric shocks to those who ignore warning signs.
Interesting idea..
Few have the facilities to do the meltdown.
That’s where I’d start looking
