CBS Boston

BOSTON - Gov. Maura Healey unveiled her $56 billion budget proposal on Wednesday, with plans to improve education and transportation, plus funds to tackle the ongoing migrant crisis.

"So, in fact, we are tightening our belts," said Healey.

The governor said the state is in a tough spot, with tax revenues flat and inflation still high.

Our alternative lifestyle Governor has called upon Bay Staters to take in "undocumented immigrants".Not a single household has volunteered. Not one houseold on Brattle Street in Cambridge (rich Harvard types) and most certainly not a single one on Martha's Vineyard.

Funny how that works out.

Reporting these days is so awful, I can’t really tell what’s going on.

I’m pretty sure that the 2023 Boston budget was $4.3B.
Now the mayor is announcing a $56B budget? More than ten times as much? I doubt it.

I’d bet that the new budget is $5.6B. Which I would not consider “belt tightening” since it seems to be a 25% increase.

I have no idea what’s really happening here.

My bad.

I got the mayor and governor mixed up. The state budget is obviously a lot more than the city budget. But I still don’t think I see belt tightening.

Heck, California’s budget deficit for 2024 is the same as MA total budget.
