Vegas wants to be an entertainment destination. More than just casinos. The dream is to get people on an afternoon train, get them to town for dinner and a show, and then home all without even needing a hotel room. It won’t happen though because the closer you get to the points the more expensive it is to build. You won’t see downtown LA or Anaheim to the Vegas strip direct. You’ll have to get transport to the edge of the desert, hop on the train, and maybe get dropped off near the Vegas airport. Then transport into Vegas or the strip area (which is actually not in Las Vegas city).
The further you want to build into either city the more expensive as you have to buy out and relocate a densely populated area. Though the strip does have that monorail. It needs an upgrade. So cal does have commuter trains but they are slow and make a lot of stops. To get to the fast train you’ll need a car to catch the slow train and the slow train to connect to the desert depot. It may not be as convenient as they hope considering it’s a 4 hour drive or 45 minute flight without any bother (other than TSA checkpoints).
Last visit to Vegas was in 1989. Saw Jay Leno show before he became famous. But had to stand in line at noon to buy tickets. Then another line at show time to get a table. Leno was very good, but I don’t like lines. And I don’t gamble in casinos. Wall Street is enough gamble LOL.
